Here are some comments about my last trip to VG (July 26-Aug 5)
1) The weather was great except for one large lightning strike without any warning. Just one cloud that let go. Scared the hell out of me. Very close.
2) US Air threatened to refuse to allow me to board the plane at STT because she said it was 4:02 and the plane was leaving at 5:00PM I was waiting in a short line for someone to check me in. Six people behind the desks. No one moved until I asked to be checked in and then the comment about being late. Then there was a flurry of loud arguments among the staff of USAir as to whether I should be allowed on. I asked to speak to a manager. Then one of the staff said she would allow me on and to wait a moment. She then processed me and I then waited in the checking area for about 30 minutes before boarding the plane. One bad attitude problem.
3) The BVI security at the Roadtown dock to STT is nonsense.
You place your carry on articles on a table. (Guns and knives as well as bombs) and then go thru a metal detector and then pick up your articles UNCHECKED and go to the waiting area. So you still have what ever you want to bring on the boat with no security at all.
Men need to remove their belts but women are told to not worry and to go thru. None of the articles put on the table were checked for any of the passengers.
4) 21 illegal immigrants arrived one afternoon and the next morning at 7:00AM there was a knock on the villa door and the immigration authorities were there asking if we had seen any strange boats, people etc.
5) I totally enjoyed the 12 days as most of the building process is complete and the builder was off-island except for the last day. The water to the bar needs to be hooked up.
6)The tropical wave did not affect the weather at all.
7)The gate at the Virgin Gorda dock is now complete so it is more difficult to get onto the dock without permission. (Easily obtained)
8) Heard that Richard Branson (Necker island) has purchased Drakes Anchorage and we be setting up resort.
9) Richard is also bringing 120 of his most personal friends to VG fof the month of Sept and is keeping The Leverick Bay Restaurant open for the month to feed them as well as have fun. How do I get on his list?
