Those on island know, but the island has apparently finally been getting some much-needed rain. Not so good for vacationers, but good news for the island.

I remember my first trip there in 1998...stayed at Sonesta Great bay. Upon arrival I watched a loader dig a trench on the east side of the resort out into the ocean from the inland water . It released a load of vegetation, plastic bottles , garbage bags, dead birds and whatever else into the ocean within 20 feet of the buoyed swim area for the hotel. Spent our time at the pool and at other beaches.
