Haven't done this trip, but just spent a decent amount of time riding the rails in Switzerland. Very pleasant experience. The trains run on time.

You do need to pay attention to first and second class cars. If you have a bunch of luggage, do first class as you will have more space.

Well I did it.......if you are ever near Milan, Tirano or quite frankly anywhere Trenitalia trains can get you to Tirano, Italy by noon.........take the Bernina Express from Tirano to St Moritz & back...........if you have time, you can stay up in the Alps at numerous places...........You can also take the train down the other side to Davos.

IT WAS SPECTACULAR FOR THE 2+ HOUR ONE WAY TRIP FROM TIRANO To St Moritz......STUNNING.....

Took the Viator tour from Milan......bus takes you past the real Lake Como which is quite huge. Makes a nice stop both ways for snacks/rest room breaks with lunch in Tirano prior to boarding the train.

Like I said, you can skip that and catch the Trenitalia to Tiranao and switch to the Bernina Express.
