Boy, what a great time. After reading some posts before we left, I was a little nervous about going down in August, but we had great wind and the weather was great even though some stuff was closed. Just liked we planned!

Here is what we did and some comments:

Saturday night. We did a sleep over on the boat at the Moorings base. There were three of us on a Moorings 362. It was hot, but I recommend it. It was great to get going by around 10:00 vs. 1-2:00 like last time when we did the regular start with one last night with air conditioning.

Sunday we went to the wreck of the Rone. Very cool. Highly recommended. We then went over to Cooper Island Beach Club. I had the opportunity to message back and forth on TTOL with Toby the owner and he happened to be there when we came by. It was really cool to meet him and even though we were there a short period of time, it was a great stop and I highly recommend it. That night we went to start our Pusser’s Triangle at Marina Cay. I thought it was okay, but would stay at Cooper if I had to do it again.

Monday we headed over to the Baths. I had been there before, so it was much of the same; however, if you are going on your first trip, it is like the Empire State Building in New York – You have to see it at least once. After that we went over to stay at Leverick Bay in the North Sound. I liked it, but would have probably chosen Saba Rock.

Tuesday was the long sail. We went from North Sound to Monkey Point for some great snorkeling. We then made our way over to Jost Van Dyke for one of the best nights we had at Foxy’s! I met another TTOL couple there. In fact, since I’ve been posting like every 10 minutes, they thought I lived in the BVI??? Their names are Chuck and Cindy from Mississippi. They were a lot of fun. It was also funny that while we were at Foxy’s all the other groups were from the South. There were folks from GA, MS, TX, LA and AL! The South will rise again in the BVI! By the way, when you go down, you will find my trademarked Monkey Feet hat hanging on the ceiling in the middle of the main bar (the bar by where Foxy sings) around five feed back from the bar right in front of the beam. If you find it while there, send me an e-mail with a digital pic. That would be cool!!!

Wednesday found us waking up with some headaches! Our journey took us to Sandy Spit for our first anchoring excursion. I must say that it was a limited success. After an hour of looking around and snorkeling, we headed out to Cane Garden Bay. When we got there, we got a taxi and headed up to Sky World. Totally awesome! What a view! Dinner at Myette’s that night was good but expensive. Don’t get the wrong impression. When the bride orders lobster and steak, you are in for a night that will exercise the Master Card!!! If you want to get your money’s worth out of the Drinking Man’s Guide, take it there. Free bottle of wine with dinner!

Thursday – we were set to just head over to Sopper’s hole to finish our Pusser’s Triangle (Leverick Bay, Marina Cay and Sopper’s Hole). I suggested another trip to JVD, so we headed over to White Bay. This place is AWESOME. I met Big Jim (a fellow TTOLer) and the owner of the Soggy Dollar Bar Bruce. My wife was in heaven because she is a big fan of the Painkiller (it was invented there). We hit Sopper’s Hole and my wife got her PINK flag. If I had know the flag would be pink, I would have vetoed the whole adventure and spent more time at the places we really liked. Finally, we made our final trek to Norman Island. We had originally wanted to go to Peter Island, but changed our minds and wanted to see the Willy T. Great fun and the sunset was beautiful.

Friday we had to head back to the Moorings base. Boo Hoo. The sail was great, but it was so good, we had an hour to kill when we got back. It did give me an opportunity to check out many of the other boats in the harbor.

The week was great. We had so much fun. The weather was great and the people for the most part were very nice. I had been looking forward to the trip for five months, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. Thanks to all the TTOLers that have given me great information. I can definitely say that meeting folks from TTOL and the information on the site made the trip all the better. I will be sending out the good word to all my friends about this wonderful site. It is a must for anyone going over there. It definitely added to our trip!

The Moorings 362 we had was in great shape too. We are already planning our trip back!!!!

And, no, I don’t live there; however, I wouldn’t mind it!!! Dallas just does not hold a candle to the beauty of the BVI!
