MYKONOS

The 41/2 hr ferry ride aboard Master jet was very comfy. how can all you people sleep with this surreal sunrise over this majestic blue water. Oh the scenery ..Then the amazing sugar cube houses of Mykinos appears. I thought my heart would burst with excitement. My first " Greek isle" experience awaits me.

Hotel Jason is in a perfect location and it's hosts Maria and family treated us like their family picking us up at the ferry dock and providing tons of helpful information for our two night stay . Simple basic place but, impeccably clean, great AC , pool and reasonably priced. great refreshing swim before we start to explore.

First stop the highly recommended authentic Greek cuisine Andrea and Maria's . had my first moussaka here. to die for, oh and the Greek salad and sagnaki weren't too shabby either.

Into Mykinos town to explore . Postcard beautiful and my camera did not stop. the famous windmills, the old church, little Venice ....on and on...
wandered the many maze like cobblestone streets for hours. Do not get lost from your party here...you may never see them again. ..seriously ...set a meeting point in case you get lost , it's crazy .

A nice cafe on the water in Little Venice for sunset . The sunset here this night surpasses anything I have seen in my life to date...and I love to watch sunsets.
then to a wonderful Greek meal at restaurant Avra....awesome . had my first taste of the delicate bream fish ....yummm. a fabulous night made only more special by a stroll back to little Venice to watch moonrise. Sunrise, sunset and now moonrise ...all spectacular ..all in one wonder filled day. I feel so very fortunate.

This place called Greece has many wonders....discovered one of them for our nightcap, ouzo..God help me. Much like dark and stormy .....delicious but deadly...proceed with caution .

A beach day is in order for our second day here .fun fun, lots of Mythos , relaxation, people watching ,,,and of course more scrumptious Greek food...man I'm glad I brought all stretchy clothes.

Another great evening filled with red wine from little jugs , then ouzo...my liver is coughing now !

Breakfast at a cute little hotel and restaurant down the street called Stella's in the morning then back on the master jet Santorini bound....I can hardly contain myself

Wowzie! That looks awesome.
Looks like the ferry boats are little bit better than the BVI.

When we were first married, my wife and I did not have the $$s for a real honeymoon, and she did not complain. However, she said on our 25th I want to be in the Greek Islands.... I Remembered.

25 years later, Santorini was where we were. The most magical place I have been. Cannot wait for the next installment.

Thanks so much for the reports and pics!

Love the reports and photos. We too loved Mykonos. The sunset is an event not to be missed. You captured it beautifully.

Oh my - now I'm really sorry I had cancelled my hotel reservation in Mykonos a couple years back.
How were the crowds in Mykonos? I may have missed your dates? I understand it's very crowded and young on the beaches during July and August with a "club" like atmosphere. Which beach did you visit?

We stayed in Mykonos the first week of September this year. No crowds at all and perfect weather. the locals did say that July and August is crazy busy.
We stayed at Hotel Jason ( the X on the map below,) checked out Mykinos town both nights and went to the beach the second day- the beach name is circled on the map.

We stayed at Ornos Beach. It was the beach in Shirley Valentine. Stayed there both times, owned timeshare there.
Lovely and close to town.
Cheers
