NAVPLION

This ancient city rich with history is amazing....upon entry into the harbour we are greeted with ruminants of a gorgeous castle once protecting this majestic place.

A wickopedia search tells me this city was discovered by the son of the Greek god Poseidon and has both Venetian and Turkish influence among others. the architecture and culture is very diverse.

All secure dockside for a change ...no walking the plank tonight!

Out for an explore in this history rich place...quaint streets with incredible shopping.

Gelato on every corner...thought I was in Italy for a minute ..

even found a market ....lots of loud Greek back and forth as they try to convince us their olives , grapes and tomatoes were better than the next fellas . Very interesting place...we appeared to be the only tourists , non Greeks at the market that day...

Lovely meal again as recommended by one of the shop keepers. Love to find these little gems...Early to bed after some ouzo as planning to do a nice 999 step climb to the top of the fortress of Palamidi in the morning.

Up early to beat the heat and up up up we go...OH my the scenery is spectacular.

Kim - so glad you enjoyed this amazing town!

Did they tell you about the little fort/castle in the middle of the harbor?

We rode to the top of the fort and then walked down the 900+ stairs, which I guess was cheating.

The best saganaki I had in in Greece was in Navplion. Once again your shots are amazing.
