Just some general observations:
- We really liked the newly paved section by Cupecoy. Usually you’re dodging holes that are camouflaged by standing water and it takes a couple of passes to memorize the safe passage through the land mines. Not this year.
- It was cloudy, blowing and raining on and off about 75% of trip this year. Luckily we’re from Arizona, so rain is an event for us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We went with the flow and spent more time at the sit down establishments and exploring than normal. We love St Maarten, so just being there is reward enough.
- The Island was extremely green. We heard it had rained pretty heavy most of the whole week before we got there. It was greener than we have ever seen it, really quit beautiful.
- The whole island was very clean, I’ve heard this said in previous posts, but it was very noticeable. Even the business establishments seemed cleaner inside and out.
- The traffic was the worst I’ve ever seen. However, the downside at staying at PDP is the drive, maybe that was a contributing factor.
- The Euro conversion was a killer; I have a lot more sympathy for our Canadian neighbors now. I liked the francs better.

All in all it was a very good trip – we’ll be back next year.
