Latest info from RCI is they are in meetings about this but nothing definitive. I asked the supervisor about our confirmed week and was told that if Alegria did not join RCI that they couldn't put us somewhere else. WHAT A MESS! I would strongly recommend Manek stay off the island!

Can you post more info about your situation? Are you supposed to be staying at the former Caravanseri or somewhere else? So far, other people are saying that their already confirmed reservations at our resorts SEEM to be OK.

I was able to have a good conversation with an RCI manager last night around 6:15 Central time. He said they were blindsided by this whole situation , which I'm sure they were being as many resorts as they have to keep track of. I have a suspicion this will bring about some major policy changes because they definitely don't need this grief. I faxed him the 3 page letter that Alegria was emailing out and I gave him some contact numbers I had from the Ministry of Tourism which I called and left messages for Ted Richardson , the Minister, which I am not holding my breath based on Jeff Berger's newsletter which talks about the current government in transition since the election.I feel confident that the person at RCI will keep me in the loop there but I don't expect any info until next week, but as I get any good info I will post for sure, and yes my reservation was my home week that I reserved after our stay there last year and yes my Maint. fees are current. Based off what I am hearing I am pretty much crossing all my fingers and toes and asking for Divine intervention. :)))

The Armed Forces Vacation Club, which is run by RCI had plenty of rooms listed at the Caravansarai and they all disappeared yesterday. take that for what it is worth.

As of today, December 1, 2014, our points for 2015 (133,000) from RCI were posted in our account. We held our breath a couple of weeks ago that our 2014 vacation/points were still going to be honored by RCI & they were. Deb & I (this is Lena posting) have been owners for week 44 at Caravanserai (now Alegria) for 9 years. Called a rep at RCI today & was reassured that yes, we indeed still had our points thru November 2015 & put in a request for next year for our 2 week vacation. Not only do we have 133,000 current points, we also have an additional 66,000 points left over from this year. I was told even though we had no "home resort" our points & enrollment with RCI was separate from that of Caravanserai/Alegria resort. Does anyone else have any other information about RCI points, etc.? Please let me know what you have been told to date. Thank you.

Got an email today from RCI that acknowledges there is no longer any agreement and confusing discussion on the elimination of points in our account with certain pre-12/31/14 conditions. Will have to call them as our account still shows points we got from cancelling our April, 2015, stay at The Caravanserai.

RCI today told me any points that were NOT from 2014 use year or earlier are no longer valid. In fact they RETROACTIVELY removed the points that I had used for my 2014 stay (I had borrowed from 2015 use year for one of the units), and replaced them retroactively with the points from my other timeshare at Sapphire. So now I have no points at Sapphire until 2016. So if you think you have points for anything in 2015, or if you borrowed from 2015 to make a 2014 reservation, you may see a negative point balance in your account now. I was seeing all of those points on December 30, AFTER they cancelled my Caravanserai reservations and put the points back into my account. Then RCI went BACK later, took those points, and retroactively reassessed prior transactions by negating any Caravanseria points used and replacing them with Sapphire points, even though at the time I made the reservations, borrowed the points, and stayed at Caravanserai, Caravanseria was still a part of the RCI network. Nice monday morning quarterbacking RCI!

All this despite the fact that I had purchased points protection when I made the Caravanserai reservations for 2015. So if Caravanserai had been destroyed by a hurricaine I would still have points. But they don't allow me to keep the protected points due to "Hurricaine Alegria". So points protection was worthless here.

Also they could not tell me whether or not they would be honoring reservations I made at Royal Islander with points I THOUGHT were in my account to borrow (since their website showed them as valid and allowed me to make the reservation). I asked if I should cancel the reservation now and just get a refund of my transaction fee. And they replied "Well then it would be definitely cancelled." Oh. Ok. So my alternative is to wait and see what you decide to do...possibly at the last minute? They need to get their act together because they seem to be making it up as they go along.

Just got the shock of my life when I went to use my RCI points to book at another resort. I was told by RCI that Alegria had revoked my 2014 points and that I had no points that they would honor. I asked for a explanation from the supervisor on shift and he said that even though RCI and Caravanserai had a agreement for 2014, the points that were alloted for my 2 bedroom lockout could be taken back by Alegria. I think that RCI is looking at cutting any ties to this resort and the people who owned there. During the year 2014, all reservations from RCI were valid until the end of Nov.........rip off company---like to really know how this program works---he could not explain how my points were taken away when my week 6 condo was exchanged by them <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />
