Anyone hear how the island weathered the hurricane? I know SXM had some damage. I also heard there are 12 people still missing in Antigua. It's still early and news is sketchy at best. Just hope everyone is found safe.

I have not focussed on Anguilla at all, but the reports on stormcarib seem to show much less damage than on SXM, but that power and internet have been much more severely damaged on Anguilla than SXM, so not nearly so many reports. Hopefully will be more info tomorrow.

Antigua took a bashing, some of my old friends on the island in the Dickenson Bay area lost their roofs and it was only a TS when it hit there.

Anguilla fared well, downed trees and power lines, some flooding and no loss of life.
Power still out in many places.
Thank heavens.

Is there no online Anguilla newspaper?? I don't know. The Daily Herald from St. Maarten reported much less damage than in SXM. The major problems seem to be power being out virtually all over and many trees down. According to the story, most damage there was from water, and many electric poles are down or leaning. The airport reopened Tuesday morning. Ferries from Blowing Point were to start operating today and many businesses were supposed to reopen today, if the light poles and trees had been sufficiently cleared off the roads.

Carol.....there is a paper once a week on Friday......Anguilla likes to keep things on the down low....so different than SXM.....plus you have this forum, that keeps everyone abreast of what is going on.....sometimes it feels like going back to yesteryear....it is like peeling an onion.....a proud population of only 14,000....a funny little place it is....just found out Viceroy Hotel did not lose power or A/C just a bit of clean up.....kate <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/canada.gif" alt="" />
