We totally enjoyed our dinner there. Wife and I go there every year. Place was really full. We always eat outside. I can eat inside at home. Glad we made reservations. Never been inside. We had no problem with service. We were well taken care of. Wife had lamb shank (she loves it, good for her). I had the chicken breast in a mushroom sauce. Mine was very good also (might have been a little smaller than last time (I eat too much anyway), but tasted great to me. We decided on desert. Wife had creme brûlée (very good per her). I had profiteroles (HUGE) I am not exaggerating. It was great. Buuutttt, I ate it all! We will definitely be back. Nancy and bob

Thanks for the report. I really love Moulin Fou. Eric is kind of ambivalent on it. One of the few places on the Dutch side to get really good French food.

Last year it turned out to be the worse meal we had in two weeks on the island. I've erased it from my mind but I did post last year all the faults we had with it. I don't think, with so many good places on island to eat, that we would ever return to find out if it had improved.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Like I said we really like it. Always one of our favorites. To each his own.

We had a nice meal there during our January trip and usually go every time we're on the island. Ate inside for the first time because it was a cool evening. Unfortunately there were two larger groups so it was noisier than I'd prefer, but the atmosphere was nice otherwise.

We also had bad experience there twice, years ago and wrote this place off ever since. Second time I didn’t even get my dinner, they brought my husbands out and said mine was coming right out and then forgot about it. After my DH was done the waiter came over and asked how were our meals. Told him I never got mine and don’t want it now and to take it off the bill. Had to argue with the manager to get that done. They are not getting another chance.

Life is short, travel the World.

Moulin Fou has always been our favorite place to dine on the Dutch side. It always is great, and as good or not better than most of the Grand Case Restaurants for a bit less money, especially when the Euro was so much higher than the dollar. We have NEVER been dissapointed in any meal, or any server in all the years (which is over 30) and always have eaten there at least once during our three weeks. i LOVE the veal chop there...always my favorite.

We always use to visit Moulin Fou for years. That is until when we arrived home, I found an extra charge of $10 on my credit card statement . I brought the statement with me the next year ready to confront them with the mystery charge of $10. By then, we had enough of Moulin Fou and never went back. Because of that $10, they lost hundreds from us by not dining there anymore.

Surfer--so, you did not confront them with regard to it? Could it be that you had an after dinner liquor or something else?? To me, I would confront them. If you were otherwise happy with them, I would give them an opportunity to explain, especially after several years of good experiences. No one is perfect.

Don’t really remember Carol, however, we always declined the after dinner drink. We always thought it was on the house, but still declined. We also always left a tip, so I’m thinking was it enough and they added an extra $10. Anyway, we’re not shedding a tear by not dining there anymore. We had a decent run and now are finding many new restaurants.

Honestly, that really doesn't seem a reason to totally diss a restaurant. You can for sure decide not to patronize a restaurant anymore. That's fine. But to slam them based on $10, without asking the restaurant to explain, seems uncalled for.

You should have questioned the CC charges with your issuing CCbank and you would have gotten your explanation of the added 10. Much better than wondering and then writing them off.

Horrible response Surfer. In all the years, i have never been charged a penny more than the bill. They had plenty of opportunity to overcharge..but have never. Then to diss a restaurant, and basically call them out for a lousy ten bucks is horrible. I am sure they won't or don't miss your business...especially for a lousy ten bucks, that they never were told about, or given a chance to make it right...(if it needed to be). I can't wait to go there in less than two weeks....and i will give them your regards. smile

Moulin Fou adds their service charge of 12% on the bottom of the receipt labeled as:
sc : $XX.XX

Been that way for many years.

Just want to chime in one more time about our extra $10 add on at Moulin Fou. That’s not the reason we stopped going. Had we gone, and we still might go soon, I’m sure the staff would have corrected the problem. Once, we had one very bad experience with the owner of another restaurant we dined at but eventually we cooled down and continued eating there to this day. Like many things in life, you tire of them, and Moulin Fou was one of them. We’re always looking for new and different restaurants. We actually found quite a few on just this recent trip. With a few more weeks left, who knows, we still might visit Moulin Fou. And most likely I won’t bother to mention the extra charge.
