Does anyone know if there is a walkway from lower bay to port elizabeth. I had read somewhere that they were going to complete this. I know they have completed the belmont walkway but don't know if the part to lower bay was ever approved and/or finished.

We walked it last Spring. There is now a new staircase that goes around the first (as you leave town) rocky point. When we were there, it ended at water level and you had to walk over the rocks to get to the beach by that restaurant. (Something Jack?) I hope there are plans to complete the steps / walkway, as in winter, when a swell is up, I can imagine it being hazardous to walk that short distance on the rocks. At the far end of Princess Margaret beach, there is a short, steep trail that takes you up the hill and along the fence of a private home. The trail was pretty leaf covered and slippery but doable with caution. Once you come to the road at the top of the hill, it's just an easy stroll down into Lower Bay. We actually ended up hiking up to the top of Ma Peggy from Lower Bay, though that is not the recommended route, and had a pleasant meal afterwards at a small cafe in Lower Bay, run by a widow whose husband is buried just outside the cafe. I think her name, and cafe start with D. Hope this helps, rather than muddles.

gee I hope they never make a walkway from Port Elizabeth to lower bay.
We have walked the hill from Sunny Caribbee to Princess Margaret beach. It was a nice hike. Nothing crazy.
Take a water taxi! Support the local guys.
Is Mac still around? He must be really old by now.
Always bought him a Guinness at the end of his day.
Cheers

Still the same as when? When we went north in March 2014, they were still building steps that go around the first point past Sunny Caribee ( if that is the abandoned resort). It was not passable at that time. When we came south in June 2014, it was passable.

still the same means the "walkway" from probably Gingerbread hotel to the end. and irina, come on why would you "never" want to make a walkway from lower bay to Port Elizabeth?

but i also agree we do love water taxis . . . when they want to

Just love Bequia the way it was.
We used to stay at Gingerbread and Sunny Caribbee. Always took water taxis.
That's what made it special.
cheers

I just read that it is finished, on the SVG Cruisers Facebook group. Not sure if this link will work, but it was posted by the author of the cruising guides commonly used for the area. https://m.facebook.com/groups/418001715012735?ref=m_notif&notif_t=group_activity
