Hi Everyone,

I'm planning a 40th Birthday trip for my wife. We'd like to go to the Caribbean and would be traveling from Philadelphia. We'll probably have a total of 4-6 people. I'm looking for island and sleeping suggestions that are nice, safe, and won't break the bank. Also looking for islands with direct flights from Philly that aren't much longer than 4.5 hours. I know, so many requirements.... ;-)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

We were in Aruba last month, and have traveled to Bermuda, Turks, Tortola, and Jost Van Dyke.

Thanks!

Suggest you check out St. Maarten. Non stop flights on US Air from Philly.

try Antigua... jolly harbour villas have 2 bdrm and 3 baths. (I'm renting a villa with a king and two dbls. they all have two beds in 2nd bedroom, and some have sofabed ) very reasonably priced when booked in advance. this is in a gated community. 360 acres with yacht club and golf course. your back yard is your deck and dock.

fancy celebration dinner at nearby sugar ridge resort is recommended. they used to offer pick up service.

there are bars within the gates or taxi it to st john's. Sunday night it's Shirley Heights for sunset and steel pan band for a couple hours followed by rotating reggae bands (45mins away and $20 by taxi return).

365 white beaches, surely you can find one you like.

don't know about direct flights.

(i second sxm also, dutch side seams to be reasonably priced for accommodation tho i always stayed at orient beach on French side)
