Seven weeks from our 22nd trip to our favorite island. You would think that by now we would have all the answers. Not! We have stayed in the Orient area 20 times and Happy Bay area last time.
Now, we will be staying at Villa Amethyst in the Terres Basses area. We are not at all familiar with that part of the island. We normally pick up groceries in Cole Bay after picking up our rental car
from Unity. I'm sure that there must be grocery stores more on the way to Terres Basses. Any recommendations?
Also, is there a French bakery close to Terres Basses that you could recommend?

I’m sure others will post as well. There’s a few smaller super markets before the French Border. There’s one by the AUC college, one in the Porto Cupecoy area by the Casino ( there’s some restaurants as well ). There’s one across from Rainbow Beach Club which has a lot of gluten free products as well as vegetarian products.
Jules bakery is up the road before the college past Fat Tony’s.

We stayed in Terres Basses for the first time in February and loved the location. We could get to Simpson Bay and Grand Case pretty easily. We liked the area so much, we rebooked the same spot again for February!

We ended up getting our "quick" groceries at the Maho Market at the round-about at the end of the runway. As mentioned, there's a small Carrefour at Porto Cupecoy. Surprisingly, we found the Cadisco just down the road on the French side (turning left from Terres Bassses) to be fairly well stocked, especially with wine! For major stock up, we just stopped at the Super U when we went to Pinel.

We love the Zee Best bakery on Airport road (I know it's not a popular opinion, but we think it's better than Le Sucriere, though not quite as big), I think kinda near Hertz (I get confused with all the rental car companies there...but it's in the middle of them lol). It has amazing Chocolate Almond Croissants, chicken salad, and sandwiches - everything we've had has been good. Our favorite sandwich is the Roast Beef with horseradish cream. We often stop here to get a sandwich to split for lunch on a beach day and a few breakfast pastries. I think there's also a new one called Paris or something like that near Sunset Beach Bar.

You'll find several convenient options in this area. Have a great trip!

we loved our stay last year in the lowlands with the only drawback being the drive especially to Gran Case for dinner
the villas are so beautiful, you never want or need to leave
May I suggest chef Franc to prepare a dinner for you, we enjoyed a multi course lobster dinner which was not much more than going to a restaurant and you can provide your own wine, we pretty much went all out with grand cru wines to pair with the food
And while Sandy Ground is not our favorite, we noticed no rif-raf while traveling through especially the idiots on cycles as there was a check point immediately after passing through

We have no reason to pass through Sandy ground this year

for some reason I always like to fill up the gas tank at the Cadisco just past Nettle Bay which is considered Marigot
food food shopping we go to the Super U in Marigot but certainly Maho market or the Carrefour in porto cupecoy would suffice

Never met a bakery I didn't like but O Paris in Maho near the Dunes casino and Morgan resort was extremely limited
Pretty sure there is still a bakery in Nettle Bay

Probably closest would be the renamed Jules in Jordan village or maybe just as close Ferdinand bakery in Marigot which has the Pistachio cream croissant that I had a quest for

Perhaps this was already stated but there is a Carrfour in Porto Cupecoy just like the one in Cole Bay.

RonDon--there is a Carrefour in Porto Cupecoy, yes, but it is a 'mini' Carrefour, verus the one in Cole Bay or by Mark's.

There's also a Carrefour in Jordan village, Cupecoy.

Based on our past experiences with both PortoCupecoy and Jordan Village mini Carrefours, they are both more than adequate but IMHO, neither one can compare to the two larger Carrefour Markets. We use Jeannie for our main grocery order but fill in at the smaller markets for odds and ends. The market at Maho is also very good but parking there could be and often is problematic.🙂🙂

There is also the Cupecoy Market on Rhine Road (old Citrus) and they have many items as well.
