I want this place to succeed because I like the location but…. We went there today for our first beach day since arriving and they have a good number of decent beach chairs but only two umbrellas for the entire beach. Had three but one was broken. No one wants to sit in the hot sun for hours getting fried. We left. Probably hang out at Mary’s Boon now. Is Karactor closed for sure?

Last reports had Karakter closed for "renovations". You are close by, check it out and report back.

I am going to edit the title of your post since it specifically addresses umbrellas.

I am sure those beach chairs and umbrellas are not cheap to buy are maintain but a must. We love Simpson Bay but not crazy about that location as it seems like the seaweed tends to pile up down there and not a lot of breeze somedays being at the end of the beach. We prefer the middle of Simpson Bay. Mary Boon to us has it all, pretty property, normally a parking attendant to help, it really has all the proper nicer facilities like bathrooms etc and I think still free beach chairs and umbrellas. Love the tuna tartare , and they have a decent hamburger and good chicken wings and we can eat on the beach or in the dining room. Can not beat the Caribbean Vibe there and nice People. Karakter was ok, just don't like the loud disco rave type music. I heard Karakater has a new partner but 4 condos are being built by the property owner and others there next Spring. (speculation) Roxy is ok but pricey for us.

Wow, that doesn't make sense. No wonder we basically never see anyone on the beach there?

As far as Karakter, interesting if there are new owners. That could explain why they are closed.

I'm really sorry to hear this, as I was excited to spend a day there. Did they happen to mention that they had more umbrellas on order?

Georgia, we like the happy hour there so we will be back for that. I’ll ask at that time.

Getting supplies can still be difficult. It took months for our condo property to get umbrellas. They need some really strong ones for the wind in that corner. Hopefully it’s just an ordering issues

I clicked on the cam the other day and one group on the beach had 2 umbrellas. No wonder the rest of the chairs were empty.

Throw the beach attendant a 20 to reserve you an umbrella and front row chairs !! Here's what is not right about the three umbrella thing. We were next door at BSV( last couple of weeks) and everyday I took a swim they had plenty of umbrellas out! Someone is jerking your chain.

Sand Gravity, got to love it!

That’s weird. The beach attendant tried to set up one for us and it was broken. The spokes or whatever they are called were made with wood. Is it possible that they were all broken because of the winds we’ve been having? At any rate there was only two left. I’ll ask if they have more on order.

Two groups of us are going today; 4 and 3, respectively. We contacted them and they are reserving cabanas for us at no charge. They said the umbrellas will be in next week. They are currently in short supply as some were damaged in the storm.

Only two umbrellas up today. I think your news is old news.

Walked by Karakters today. It looked almost completely destroyed.
The roof on the bus and decking is gone.
It looked like more than reconstruction!,

Terri--Interesting. Maybe the person who said it had been sold was correct. Will see what happens from here.
