At 5:34 PM this afternoon, a Canadian military transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster landed at Princess Juliana international airport SXM. It may be that it brought large aircraft parts to repair the WestJet 737 which could not takeoff yesterday due to mechanical issues. Still unclear as to the actual purpose of it landing here, but it was quite a sight. Drphilsxm

What a great pic Dr Phil SXM, you don't see that every day!! Don't know why a military plane would be bringing in a part for a commercial airline. More likely a Canadian politician arriving for vacation
. Curious to know if it stays overnight.

The US military sometimes does training flights to SXM. Perhaps the Canadian military does too.

Well that made my day! Somebody on another site suggested they were bringing emergency supply of maple syrup. π I saw great video of it incoming. Quite a thrill!

It was on Jeff Berger's everythingsxm site if you belong to that. A guy at cupecoy picked it up.

Great photo..but as a Canadian, I truly hope our Gov is not spending tax payers money to assist in the repair of WestJet Planes! But then again, what do I know :-)

Most likely a landing for fuel. The plane departed BLB in Panama at 13:44 EST and landed at SXM at 17:34 AST on 1 December 2023.
