Every Sunday morning I usually check out when Air Transat (TSC286) leaves Toronto. It's the flight we have been taking lately so I like to check to see if it's on time. This morning when I brought up the flight on Flight Radar 24 it had left 29 minutes behind schedule which is normal. It travelled south until over Roanoke Virginia and then turned north to return to Toronto? It took off 2 hours ago as I post this and is currently on approach to YYZ. I don't know why but I'm sure that there are a lot of passengers on board that are disappointed and now have to make new plans. Does anyone know what's going on?

FlightAware shows it as being diverted but no mention of why, which I did not expect. Maybe someone onboard can comment if they are a TTOL member. Not a good way to end the year nor start a new one.

The Airtransat site indicates "Technical/Safety" as the reason.

Seems like a long way to go if there truly is a problem.

The website says "technical/safety issue" Could be anything. Also indicates an 11 hour, 10 minutes flying time, which suggests that the flight will leave YYZ again and arrive 6 1/2 hours late in SXM

There appear to be multiple flights from Terminal 3 that have been delayed for an extended period. Feel sorry for all those passengers. Toronto airport has turned into a real s**t show.

Air Transat TS286 has left Toronto again at 1:42 pm, Toronto time and is estimated to arrive at 6:51 pm Island time. At least they will make it for New Years Eve, if they can stay awake that long. The original flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30 am which means they would have arrived at Toronto airport at 3:30 am. A very long travel day for what should have been a 4 1/2 hour flight.

Probably had to find a new crew for the second flight out. A neighbour here who is a pilot said that would not be easy at this time of year.

We left Sunday morning on Westjet WS2652 on time and no issues. Luck of the draw maybe? Landed at 3:15 pm. 1 hour at PJIA from time of landing to out the door with checked bags. We’ll take it with all the horror stories we’ve been hearing!
