Our 8th trip here. Own at La Terasse but stayed at La Plage this time.

We appreciate all the advice you've shared in the past and hope to add to the knowledge base here.

This trip, I was on a mission to find local island cuisine, emphasis on Haitian Creole. We like to find the dives no one goes to.

Day 2, woke up and walked to Oh Paris and it was closed.

Then meandered to Morgan's. Very nice spot with the infinity pool as well as what appeared to be ....a couples massage taking place way off that small dock/peninsula that juts out past Sunset Bar. Then woke the teens and spent some time at Mullet.

By afternoon, we made it back to Maho where our friends just came off their flight to join us. We talked them into joining us a mere 4 weeks ago! Since they'd flown EWR-MIA-SXM, they were spent!!
We hung out until sunset at Maho and the Driftwood. Then we did night 2 at Three Amigos for dinner. Again, all I like there is the mushroom chicken. In a creamy cognac sauce....to die for.

Day 3 Our friends were staying at Sonesta Maho and were not impressed. On reserving, they were told we'd be able to buy day passes to join them. Well, not until March...cited capacity reasons. The teens can't get enough waves, so we spent the entire day at Maho, bouncing between Tortuga and Driftwood for hydration.

Later that evening we took up Colour1/Fabila's recommendation at Roma/MrChow happy hour where you can order off both menus. We'd seen this place last year but never chose to eat there bc we figured it was one or the other. Thanks again, guys for the tip! Perfect way to explore the menus.

GREAT cocktails and tapas! Above the Clouds, Pornstar Martini and old Fashioned were primo! Ordered pizzas for our teens. Don't pass on the veal meatballs! Highly recommend bartender Cosmo. Real good guy. Then walked Maho strip, found some feline friends and off to zzzzzz....

Day 4- again our families took time meandering over to Maho waves in the AM. After lunch, we headed to find Chez Poupette, a real authentic 'dive' for Haitian Creole food. If you sneeze, you'll drive right past it. No clear hours of operation but we got there at 3:15 and she was closing up.

plan b- took the crew to Marigot, Ft Louis, then Restaurant 1,2,3 in Marigot. Haitian Creole; EXCELLENT plantains and griot. The rice was a touch dry. We meandered through the French side heading back to Maho across the lowlands and DAMN, it was worse than the cross Bronx expressway, with one lane.

By the time we all got back, we were just too tired. Walked Maho again then passed out early.

more to come....had to hit the sack early bc of the boat the next day.

first pic is us in our PACKLIGHT RENTAL chairs on Maho, Rent from him!
