We have a 5:00 am from DFW to SXM via CLT tomorrow. We've moved a bit away from the Metroplex, so now it's a good 90 minute drive. We're having the car pick us up at 1:30, being ultra-conservative as this is our first time from our new home. That means I need to wake up at midnight to perform my morning rituals (lots of idle time there). Hardly seems worthwhile to go to bed. We'll see.

Oh, and the Admirals Club doesn't open until 5:00 am. There goes that big plate of bacon I was hoping to fortify myself with.

Vacations are such a PITA.

I have heard that we are in for quite a bit of Sahara Dust later this week, especially this weekend. At least the dust keeps the rain away.

We are absolutely looking forward to this trip, especially Mrs. Cruzer who had to take it too easy last trip and not by choice. With a 1:11 arrival time, a bit of a wait for immigration won't be that big a deal.

Un Ti-Punch, sil vous plait.

You lost me with the title of the post. What is it you are trying to decide to do?

Sleep or not.

Sorry, I've had a frazzled day, and am now settling down.

We arrive Tuesday also on American via Miami. How bad is the dust supposed to be? Does it just make it hazy sunshine?

At least the Dust will cool the waters with Hurricane season approaching.

Kim, in our particular situation, that option is not preferable from a financial or convenience aspect. Because we choose 5 am departures and 1 am returns, and 3 week+ stays, our choices are limited. We're used to redeyes so eastbound sleepless nights are the norm.

We live 2 hours from DFW and have had this dilemma for years. We have done it all. Stay awake, got a hotel close to the airport and get a little sleep. We have decided that getting 2-3 hours of sleep, get up at midnight and on the. road by 1am works best for us.
