Looking for some information on a day trip to Anguilla from Simpson Bay. Online is showing too much information for me to comprehended about where and when / cost ferries leave from to Anguilla.
Is there a frequent ferry from the Dutch side to Blowing Point and approx cost?
Appreciate any information, thank you!

I would check with GB Express. Not cheap but great service and leaves from near the airport. We have used them several times.

The public ferry leaves out of Marigot and is around $15pp each way plus departure taxes. The poster was specifically asking about a ferry from Simpson Bay.

Thanks all, I think this explains what I was trying to interpret on line. The main / inexpensive ferry is from the French side and there is "charter" service from the airport.

We do the Marigot ferry all the time, easy and seamless and leaves every 45 minutes from 8:15 until 6:15 coming back. Do it a dozen times a year at least.

How is parking? That's my biggest concern.

The earlier you get there in the morning the easier and closer the parking will be.

Does anyone know the current departure taxes to Anguilla and are there taxes both ways? Will be there in May and considering a day trip over and back.

There are taxes both ways and it depends on which side of the island you leave and return to. Don't hold me to this but I think it is $5 each way from the French side and if you return to Dutch SXM it was around $13 last year from what I recall.

Great, thanks for all the information!
One thing I think I missed was if the parking lot is for the Ferry terminal or just public parking in Marigot. If anyone knows that would be great, thanks!

No specific parking just for the ferry terminal, no.

In Marigot there is no specific parking as Carol indicated. There is a LOT of parking nearby but on busy days it will fill up quickly as it is public parking. If doing the public ferry from Marigot I would suggest doing either the first or second ferry of the day. It will give your more time on Anguilla for the same $$ and also get you much better/closer parking.

extreme said: We took the ferry from Marigot last november and the cost was 25 US pp for Anguilla and 23 US pp to come back.A 20 min ride! Wow! $48.00? That makes AXA a very expensive day trip for the public ferry ride. Last time we took the ferry it was about $25.00 rt pp. has the GB Express gone up proportionately, if anyone knows?

pat,
Last year we took GB Express and it was higher than the previous year. I don't remember specifics but it was not cheap but worth the convenience to us.
Sounds like the public ferry is not the bargain it once was either.
pat, I found the information from last year for GB Express and it was a total of $93pp when all taxes were included. The departure tax from Anguilla to Dutch SXM was $13, which seemed really high to me. Departure tax was $5 going to Anguilla.

Pat.....it is expensive for the ferry from Simpson Bay to Anguilla.....least amount is $50.00, each way then you have to pay exit fee of $5.00 when leaving Anguilla....for a day trip less expensive to go from Marigot and take the public ferry.....the taxis are about 3 times the amount you pay in SXM....kate

The ferry guys will also rent you a car and get you a driving permit while on the way over. Pretty easy drive. Just stay on the other side of the road. Not a whole lot of traffic headed to the beaches on this quiet little island.

Thanks. Have driven on VG, Anegada, and Tortola. Assuming driving on AXA is a walk in the park compared to Tortola.

A driving permit is $20 for the day or as long as you visit. We stayed a week and it was still only $20.

We generally get a car for $40 a day at the ferry terminal. Add in the driving permit. But if you plan to drink, please consider a taxi instead of your own car.

Ok thanks ! So if we only go to one beach for the day, we are better off taking a cab !
