MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY

So, what has been going on? Not much, apparently. This year has been one filled with stress for us, and I guess we didn't really know how stressed we were until we got here. The past three days we've just slowed down to a crawl and kind of hung out here. Most of my days have been spent in my “office' here, reading a book.

I am ready to start on book #5 in the morning, although I have to confess I got about 1/3 through one and tossed it to the side, at the BSV lending library, where I picked up a bunch of new books. So I guess I will say it's really book #4, but who's counting??

So, will just say that this will be an attempt to try to get caught up here, but just hitting high spots.

On Monday, we didn't leave the house. Breakfast was a ham and cheese omelette.

Lunch was a really good grilled chicken sandwich, with bacon and lettuce along with a home made potato salad. Trust me, it was better than the picture!

Dinner was leftovers.

On Tuesday, after breakfast of bacon and eggs, we went to Le Suciere to get some quiche. Lunch was some cheese and crackers and fruit. We went to Pizza Italy for dinner. I had heard good reviews of Pizza Italy, but I have to say that it was kind of underwhelming. We ordered the “Pizza Italy”, which I would assume I guess is their specialty. It seemed to need sauce and cheese as it seemed kind of dry.

Wednesday, we had our quiche, along with with mimosas and coffee.

It was a nice way to start the day. Then Eric went to Carrefour to get a few things like some more water, soda, some fruit, buns, etc. Dinner will be grilled chicken, stuffing and veggies.

The weather continues to be warm, but much cooler than at home in Florida. For most of the time, there has been a nice breeze through the 'house', as we leave the front and back doors open. Our first couple of days, the seaweed was awful here, but the last couple of days, there has been almost none. The crew here has been tireless to remove the seaweed, but I have not seen anyone even attempt to rake next door. Today was one of those picture perfect days, that has a view that lasts forever.

Unfortuntely, late afternoon the breeze totally stopped and it got really hot. Unfortunately the breeze dying coincided with the electric going off. The electric has been off for approximately 2 hours each of the past three afternoons, and seems to have somewhat coincided with the announced 'load shedding'. I guess it's easy to time that out, when you don't even actually announce it until after the electric has already gone off. I guess it's possible it was posted before it actually went off each day, but we were checking really often and never saw it ahead of time the past three days. Before then, it was nowhere in the vacinity.

This time of year there are many less ships than during season, but this year, it seems to be even less than normal. There was one ship here on Tuesday. I missed it's arrival, but did catch it leaving.

Other than that, there are two ships scheduled tomorrow, and that's it for the 10 days we are here.

Saba has been visible the past couple of days, but not really clear. I saw one other island this morning, but not sure which one. Haven't really gotten a good picture of Saba yet, so hoping the view will improve.

Like I said, didn't realize how stressed out we were before we had been here a couple of days. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the update Carol. I enjoy your reports and really like how you place photos in the narrative. I’m not sure how to do that on an iPad or I would try. Looks like photos need to be on a web site? I’m glad you guys have an opportunity to rest and heal up from the stress. Life can be tough. We’ve stayed at Mary’s Boon on several occasions over the years and I’ve taken walks down to where you are but we’ve never stayed there. It looks like a beautiful location with a great view. On our first trip to the island way back in 2004, we stayed at Mary’s Boon for a few days then stayed over on the French side at Green Cay Villas. (Haven’t been there since. Too expensive.) Anyway, early in the morning I went out for a walk from MB down to your side of the beach and I saw someone running toward me but up toward the airport fence rather than by the water. It soon became clear it was a woman who was running/skipping, wearing nothing with arms waving a beach wrap above her head, laughing and screaming, what, I can’t remember. I just kept walking. Not sure where she wound up but I didn’t see her on the way back. Have a great rest of the week and hoping you both are able to decompress from the stress.

Thank you Carol for all your reports and pictures, enjoyed every one so far. Simpson Bay is our favorite beach to walk so your pictures with the beach in the background are helping me wait out the 6 months until our return. Thanks.

Another pizza place that's getting rave reviews is in the new Paradise Mall across from Pineapple Pete's. The name is escaping me at the moment, but everything I've read says it's best pizza on the island.

Would that be "Don Pizza"?

Carol and Eric, sounds like you needed a break. Hoping the rest of the trip goes well.

bdeely beat me to the name. Never been there. Same owner as Sale & Pepe? Honestly, I think the pizza at Isola is very good. I have not tried Roma for pizza but I would think it to be good as well.

Thanks for the updates. I use to post photos in reports as you do when Photobucket was free. I prefer to post photos as you do but forgot the process. Can you let us know how you do that?

Enjoying your report. You're having terrible, rainy weather at home so enjoy the sunshine no matter how hot there.

What book are you reading now from BSV library? I think I too have read all that's there. If you want a change go to the card shop in Simpson Bay, left side of road across from water. She has used books, I believe by donation or a small fee and the money goes to an animal cause. I think it's near Sal e Pepe.

Lancer--Green Cay Villas doesn't exist anymore, I don't think, as such. I think the villas are all individually owned now. It was a very special place. We stayed there several times, in a few different villas. Sounds like the lady was enjoying herself?? Odd situation. Thanks for the good wishes.

Will post a separate note about how to put pictures within the report.

I doubt we will go out for pizza again this trip, as it seems to be winding down already, but will keep it in mind for next time, I guess.

lcote--yes, too soon, I will be back in my real office!

Very nice report and pictures, Carol. The views from BSV are certainly breathtaking.

That big batch of potato salad looks great to me. I’ll have to make one on our next trip to the island.

jomarc--Pat will appreciate our making potato salad here!! grin One trip a few years ago, they had some special at Carrefour, that it was cheaper to buy a BAG of potatoes than it was to buy a couple of large potatoes. So, we bought the bag and made potato salad and often do that every trip. Pat made fun of us then, and we think of her whenever we make it. We always buy celery, onion, mustard, mayo, pickles, eggs, anyway.

RonDon--missed your question about my book. Currently I'm reading the 20th Victim, by Patterson. I just grabbed a bunch of books from there one day and brought them back here. Will finish that one today, then may have to go check back to see what else I can find. A couple of them that I grabbed I'm not interested in, so will just take them back.

Carol, we left a stack of new books at BSV, when we left.
I don't remember titles, but they were new and quite good.

I couldn't find any there, when we finished ours. Too many electronic gadgets now!

Terri--I just finished the Patterson book. There were several newer Patterson books there. Will probably need to take some of these back tomorrow and see if I can find anything else exciting. And yes, electronic gadgets are taking over everything!

I actually only have time to read on vacation, so a book can be a couple of years old and it's brand new to me.
