Hello, Trying to get down to St. Thomas in the summer for vacation. My son has his scuba certification. Any dive company you can recommend that you like? Also, air fares are crazy. Hoping for a sale from NYC/Newark area. Thanks so much. Carolyn

If you don't use it already I find Google Flights is a good way to find lower airfare prices.

Be flexible on your dates and I am seeing fares in the low 400 range on American from JFK. It won’t go much lower.

Actually I got air from JFK to St. Thomas, nonstop, roundtrip for $596 on American. It was the cheapest in about 4 weeks so I grabbed it. Rented our Airbnb and got our rental car. All ready to go in August.

Hi Carolyn, My husband and son are divers so here are a couple dive companies to checkout... My son got his dive master certification with St. Thomas Dive Center summer of 2016... They are located at Bolongo Bay. https://www.stthomasdivecenter.com/ The company they typically go out diving with now is Red Hook Dive Center. https://www.redhookdivecenter.com/ I suggest your son takes a look at their websites... And call each one to see what company he feels more comfortable going out with. I'm sure you're aware, August is hurricane season, best to have trip insurance! Wish you an incredible trip!

Thanks so much for the info. My son just got certified so he is looking forward to dive. We lived in St.Thomas from 1983 to 1993. Going back to see friends and enjoy the island again.
I will tell him to check them out online and give a call.
Thanks for the info.
Carolyn

We did go to St. Thomas on August 5 -12. Perfect weather every day. My son went driving with Red Hook Dive Center for 3 days. They were amazing. He dove with nurse sharks, all kinds of fish and sea turtles. Also got to explore a shipwreck. Now he is going to work on his next level. A perfect vacation. Carolyn

Hi Carolyn! Awesome to hear you had a perfect weather week... This time of year you never know! Also happy to hear your son experienced 3 days of amazing diving with Red Hook Dive Center... It's always a highlight to see nurse sharks and turtles and a bonus to explore a shipwreck! I wish him the best achieving the next level certification. Jo

Thanks Jo. We would like to plan another trip down during our spring break. Hopefully his brother can get away to experience diving with him . They got certified together but Corey is the only one to dive so far. Personally I just want to go to the beach. Carolyn
