As I have mentioned in the past we have never stayed in this area and don't have the slightest idea about the location, etc., other than what has been responded to me. We don't care for the coffee and the little dinky cups that are served in the wonderful bakeries along the French side, as that is where we have stayed at in the past; Are their any bakeries within walking distance of the Royal Palm Resort, or a Dunkin' Donuts or like similar that has per say American style coffee, etc? I know we could bring the same from home, but while we are on vacation we just prefer to go out and enjoy the area.
Thank You, Ron M <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

There is a small store on the lower level on the corner as you enter the parking lot that has a small selection of pastries and I think coffee. SMYC across the street has an American type breakfast and regular size coffee. There are a couple of bakeries nearby. Taste Factory will have a good selection but not sure on the coffee. My preference is La Sucriere, which is a little farther down the road and I would probably drive to there. They will NOT have the US style coffee but have phenomenal products. Another suggestion is to buy or bring your own coffee and make it in the room. Get your pastries and enjoy them and your coffee on your private balcony at Royal Palm.

As JD says, there is a small store right there in Royal Palm that has pastries and I have no idea whether they sell coffee there or not. The breakfast at the Yacht Club is very good and they have American coffee there. Zee Best is pretty close and they MAY have American coffee there, but frankly I've never eaten there. Not walking distance for me personally, because I'm lazy, but really close in the car is the Hideaway at Lavista. They have good full American breakfast there.
As the others said, I personally would just make coffee in the room and enjoy your balcony there at RP, but it's your vacation--do what you like!

I intended to mention The Hideaway but forgot. Not within walking distance but a good option.
Zee Best and the "recycled" basket of pastries....not for me.

That's one reason why I've never eaten there.
As far as no American coffee at LuSuciere, are you sure about that? As I know that Eric and I have eaten there on the back patio at least once and I almost always order American coffee, wherever we are.

Perhaps they do have American coffee but all I recall seeing is the little cups like the OP referred to. I seldom order coffee out so I don't pay too much attention.

Eric now says that he has never been on the back patio there, so it must have been you I was with! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" /> I am pretty sure they have American coffee there though.

Yes, CA is there, never liked their stuff as well as LeSuciere though. Well, and god forbid <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Blush.gif" alt="" /> MickeyD's is right there too by CA. They actually do have good coffee. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" />

Cafe Altlantico is a little farther down, across from Le Gourmet Marche. Near where you make the turn to go back to the Mary's Boon/Karakter area. It is ok but I much prefer Le Sucriere.

At home we make Dunkin' Coffee by reason that McDonald's is unavailable, for us either one is great. In the past as we have always stayed at Alamanda Resort along Orient Beach and even tho the mini breakfast is included within the hotel we would walk down to Bay Watch and have a wonderful breakfast, etc., with Andy in the early morning. We would have no problem bringing our Dunkin' Coffee from home and walking to one of the nearby bakeries as posted, but after so many times doing that, that can get old too. Any info is sure appreciated and we are looking forward to a new experience for an area we have never been too. Even tho I don't want to drive at night anymore we are still going to rent a car for other uses.
Thank You to all, Ron M <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

You will do fine. There is a McDonald's just over the bridge if you want their coffee. Bear in mind the bridge opening times so you don't get "stranded" with your goods.
The Royal Palm area/Simpson Bay is very convenient but will also be different than what you are used to.

Wow, that is late! Never been to MickeyD's in SXM, but I guess they don't get any breakfast traffic.
