Heading back from bvi today. My good friends at Inter-Caribbean air cancelled my flight home 36 hrs ago. There was a mid day flight (mine) and a 4:00 pm flight from EIS to SJU. They cancelled my mid day flight and placed me on the 4:00 pm. Unfortunately, my SJU to ATL flight leaves at 5:11 pm.
I called them with the “this won’t work”. They are refusing to give me a refund, since they rescheduled me another flight.
Coming out from SJU to EIS last week, they pulled the same stunt. But, I could make the change work. The pilot n crew showed up 20 minutes late / only eleven passengers on the flight / and, so on.

Hate to say it but that's why I stick to the ferries and go via STT.Hopefully your credit card company can take up your case..

Mal--OR get the non-stop from Miami to Tortola on AA... If there's a problem with the connection, it's their problem to fix.

Or take Cape Air, Tradewinds or Caribbean. Even in bankruptcy, Silver is a better choice. InterCaribbean is the only one we have never booked; canceling flights is their MO, unfortunately.

Sadly th AA from MIAto EIShas not been without issues..friends have had no problems others have had to stop in SJU on the way out to top off the tanks because the plane was too heavy leaving EIS.Others have had bags removed and, sometimes, even passengers have had to be taken off.I believe George C1 on here, a Delta pilot, said the planes they use are borderline for than range and load..

Planes that are not borderline for the range and load can't land at EIS. There are certainly issues... we flew home just a few days ago and since there was weather over Tortola, our flight first diverted to PR after approaching Tortola. Presumably it refueled there, then attempted again and ended up circling in the pattern for a full hour waiting for the runway to dry. Finally landed (to cheers from the waiting passengers), and we made it to MIA, albeit too late for our connecting flight.

Mal--ANY air transportation is not without drama these days, no matter the airline. My point is that if the trip is entirely booked on one carrier or on one TICKET (as I think maybe you can do with Silver--don't know), the problem becomes the airline's problem to fix and if you miss a connection, it's not good, but you shouldn't have to pay for another ticket, as one may have to do, if you book two separate tickets.

Carol is correct. The key to an airline routing with a stop or stops is having the entire ticketed route on one PNR. Now any problems have ownership. If you break the trip up on different tickets you set yourself up for a world of hurt. I once had a friend book a crewed charter for 21000 dollars many years ago. JetBlue had a JFK to SJU roundtrip for 189.00. He jumped on that against my advice and booked a separate connection on CapeAir. His family of 4 took that routing and another family of 4 booked American straight through for about 250 more than the combined JB/CapeAir. He saved 1000.00 dollars. Then the Snowstorm hit NYC. His JB flight was cancelled. The American flight to SJU was also canceled but AA rebooked the family to MIA SJU EIS. They got in late that night but boarded the charter ontime in the morning. He got there late day two of the charter and only after paying for a hotel in SJU and 1100 for 4 one way tickets to EIS. On the plus side the one family enjoyed the extra shrimp cocktails and Filet at the first nights dinner!

Yes, three Aa flights landed within 30 minutes of each other. The waiting room was packed. There is not much they can do. In general, it's a fine flight and saves time and aggravation.
