Making it's way to Maho Beach.

It was very bad at Orient today.
VERY heavy on the south end.

Saw a steady stream float by in front of Flamingo. Luckily nothing came into our beach but I bet BSV got hammered. Hope not.

This is one of many sliding by this morning.

I'm currently sailing from SXM to the Azores and we are about 200NM to the northeast of the island. There is a lot of sargassum out here, more than I've ever seen. And it is headed your way

Huge patches, one after another sliding by nonstop heading west. Can't imagine what the east facing beaches are getting.

It's everywhere, it's everywhere! Just got back from Bermuda. Saw more of it on the south shore beaches there than I have ever seen before at this time of year.

Looking at the cameras and it seems Maho got lucky this time.

Yes. Maho and Mullet typically does get it unless wind is SWerly

Looking at SXM Island Cam, there is a huge mat of sargassum on the water against the beach in front of BSV.

It doesn’t look too bad to me.

Early this morning the sea weed was pushed up against the cliffs of Beacon Hill. Then the wind direction must have changed and pushed it all up against the beach. Take a look and SXM Island Cam before the sunsets. It's bad!!!

Yes. Same sh%t that passed us all day at Flamingo with luckily nothing coming ashore on our beach. Can't imagine other beaches.

Very heavy at Orient yesterday. LOTS of it.

None at Happy Bay today.

jomarc--I guess it depends on whether they raked this morning and this was what came in after they raked.

I find it hard to believe they could keep up with it the way it was floating by and the volume. Going to give Mullet a go tomorrow. Chair reservations all set.

The gardening crew at BSV will have that all cleaned up in no time!!!

Does grand case usually escape the saragassum?

Yes, usually. I've seen very small amounts of it there on occasion.

Yikes! Sorry to hear this. We're leaving Saturday for 2 weeks in Orient Village. Last year the beach was littered with sargassum but all you can do is make the best of it. We enjoyed Friar's Bay and plan to go there several days of our vacation but it's so easy just to walk down to orient beach. How's the breezes? We enjoy it most when there's a nice breeze coming in from the ocean. Are the sand flies bad as well?

We visited Orient last week. Sand flies were prevalent on the northern part of the beach, where the seaweed was.
No sand flies on the Club O section, and minimal seaweed. Nice breezes!

From KKO to Bikini beach the tractor rakes the sargassum nicely!!! We stay at LaPlaya, it's always beautiful and the sand is like powdered sugar!! Never had problems with sand flies!!! Could be the brand of sunscreen??? BTW!!! BEST SUSHI on the island IMHO!!!

I think they were hard pressed to keep up with it last days.
