So, I lied about keeping up with daily reports. So, sue me.. Ok, well, wait a COUPLE of days before you sue me because I'm back in the office today, but not exactly clicking on all cylinders yet...

Thursday we stayed at "home" . Nothing much to report except more reading, some plane watching, boat watching, eating and drinking! grin

Saba reappeared, sort of.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

We did not realize there was a ship in, but I did catch some pics of the Wonder of the Seas leaving port

[Linked Image]

We had steak and a loaded baked potato for dinner.

[Linked Image]

Friday we had a continental breakfast at home

[Linked Image]

and decided to drive around Beacon Hill and Simpson Bay, which we hadn't done in a while. We drove down past the place here in Beacon Hill that the residents actually were able to stop construction, at least for now. The property was boarded up from the street and there was nothing going on there. I can certainly see where the residents would want to stop a five story development in this residential area. I hope they succeed in finally stopping it, but I am not optimistic. Here is the story.

https://www.thedailyherald.sx/islan...l-residents-in-building-permit-dispute-2

Afterwards, we drove down toward Azure Guest House. I would never stay there due to the parking situation. It is the dead end of a one way road, with no parking for the place, that I could see. We had to back up a whole block just to turn around. We headed down to Horny Toad, but the gate was locked, so we didn't try to get in. We drove past Coco Beach Club and Mary's Boon. I think Mary's Boon must have added some new rooms, right by the road, at some point. We went by Babacool, which was closed. I did see water in the pool, but nothing else going on. A guy who works at Karakter said they were still 'renovating'. Huhm, wonder if they ever got a permit? Karakter was open although not busy at all, at 11:30.

I took a picture of the signs for Pardon My French, so that folks will know what to look for.

We also drove down Billy Folly road. OMG. What a cluster. What a horrible road. We drove down past SBBR and LaVista, and out toward a villa we stayed in a few years ago at Pelican Cove. Even past Billy Folly, the road was terrible.

After our road trip, we stopped by Market Garden, for what I thought would be a couple of easy things, water, coffee and wine. Wine was $12-$15 for anything, couldn't find the coffee we wanted, so we left. From there, we just decided to head over to Carrefour across the Causeway. Found water for $.89, versus $1.60 at Market Garden, the coffee we wanted (Santo Domingo) and a couple bottles of wine under $10.

Since it was about 1 PM or so, I wanted to stop by Driftwood for some pizza and some planes! Unlike at Tortuga the other day, there was a decent breeze. We did luck out and find parking on the street. They were pretty busy, but eventually we got served. I had a frozen mojito, which was BOMB, after I got over the brain freeze.

Eric had a beer, and we split a large deluxe pizza.

[Linked Image]

The pizza was very good and it was great taking some plane pictures, plus this kind of 'framed' one

Afterwards, we headed back to the "house", hung out for a few hours and eventually cooked some chicken breast on the grill for dinner, with corn and stuffing.

A totally boring evening concluded with some TV and off to bed. Thus ends a perfect day... smile

Looks good. I swear, Eric never changes.

The gate at The Horny Toad is usually closed but if you honk or get out of the car, they will open it.

I have never had a frozen Mojito but it did look good.

Did you bring the steak from home or purchase it on SXM?

JD--Eric always takes a good picture, unlike me. Guess it's the subject.

I figured they would probably open the gate, but didn't worry about it.

Yes, the mojito was very good. I generally avoid any kind of a frozen drink, as they are too sweet, but this was good.

Steak came from home.

As JD says, gate at Horny Toad is almost always locked. But there's a buzzer, I think it's on the right side of the gate. Press it, and they will open the gate. Now you will know for next time.

I agree about Azure parking, plus from the pictures on their website, it seems to me their rooms are pretty small. One of the many things I like about the Toad is that the rooms are pretty spacious.

I totally forgot about the buzzer, yes, on the right side of the gate.

Azure rooms vary in size, but I would take the Horny Toad. Parking, nice sized rooms as you stated and secure.

Linda--OK, we didn't try to see if they would open it. I wasn't sure they would have any open rooms anyway. Just decided to pop by since we were driving around.

I say it all the time, that Driftwood is one of the best little finds on the island!! It's great bar food and the drinks are GREAT made to order!! Rum punch the best on the island!! Hands down!! No store bought pre-mix in those drinks!! The girls are great!!! I like there pizza a lot, that looked good!! A few years ago I tried for the first time ever ( don't know what made me so adventurous) there shawarma wrap!!! It was so flavorful and filling!! VERY MESSY!!! LOL!!! But good!!! Nice job taking landing pictures!!! Is Carrefour now Super U over the Causeway bridge on Union road?? Welcome back, it never seems to be long enough!!

Sand Gravity, got to love it!

I don't think we've ever had anything other than the pizza at Driftwood, because I like it so much.

Sorry, that was a screwup, regarding Carrefour and Super U. Will fix it.

I’ve really enjoyed your trip reports and pictures, Carol. What a wonderful way to celebrate an Anniversary!

Your steak and potato dinner looks absolutely delicious.

I’m typically not a frozen drink person, but the frozen mojito at Driftwood is really good! And the view!!! Highly recommended.

jomarc--thanks for your kind words.

I never drink frozen drinks anymore, but a regular mojito is my regular drink at home, so I thought I'd try this one.

I sent you a PM..
