Took a screenshot but only shows a little smoke. We contacted the bartender/operator of the pool bar at La Terrasse and he said that he saw a lot of fire and police cars going by his place in Simpson Bay. He is on his way. Looks like the fire is out now.

A post on facebook indicated the road would be closed for a few hours today.

Yes on a fire, video is online, don't have details yet. Does NOT look huge. Nothing from KPSM. I posted the video on my SXM page...came from KPSM.

I also saw that but don't know that it's related. Fire was late last night.

I've heard from a condo owner at La Terrasse and the fire started in unit 2278. That's the same unit we stayed in last Dec/Jan when we were there for Christmas and New Years.

Whale Tail--wow, that is some coincidence. Any info about how it started? Any injuries?

Don't know about how it started or injuries, but I did hear that guests in another second floor unit could not leave via the hallway because it was filled with smoke so they jumped off the second floor balcony down onto the lawn.

We are good friends with the folks who own the unit where it started. It was being rented but we are told there were no injuries.

I have heard speculation but the Owner said fire inspectors are there today making that determination.

I assume damages were only in the 1 unit. Has that been confirmed?

I don't know the full answer to your question, but there would at least be smoke damage in other units. These pictures should give you some idea of the damage.

This is the last week picture versus this week’s picture. They have been working quickly on the restoration. Drphilsxm

Aren't these structures mostly concrete? Exactly what is there to burn? I've never been in La Terrasse, but I own at the RI and can't imagine what in my unit would burn.

Yea - that makes sense. I was thinking structurally as a threat to other units

Yes, steel and concrete won’t burn. Thick smoke is the threat. RI has been working very hard to remediate any issues from the fire. Things are already looking much better. Drphilsxm
