Pedestrians have been walking from the Cupecoy / A.U.C. neighborhood to Mullet Bay Beach for decades. Before Kalatua Restaurant plonked itself down in the middle of the beach, there was simply a narrow pedestrian path that indicated where people walked. If a golfer was teeing up at the top of the hill near the cliff, most pedestrians, out of respect for the golfers, would walk up the hill around the golfer rather than trying to cross the green. All was well.

Now Kalatura restaurant is ferrying customers in golf carts from the Starz Casino parking lot to their new restaurant -- creating new ruts in the golf course, and opportunities for narrow automobiles to follow the golf carts and park on the golf course (especially on weekends). Perhaps a problem, but one entirely created by Kalatua, not pedestrians.

Solution: A new "No trespassing" sign has been installed at the corner of the golf course near Cupecoy Beach Club, where pedestrians cross to the beach. Needless to say, pedestrians are ignoring the new sign.

We will see if they enforce it as effectively as they do the laws related to out of control motorcycle drivers.

The issues are ZERO RESPECT! Kalatua should be driving up along the wall of CBC, and along the ocean, to Kalatua. But they don’t. Now walkers have zero issues walking the course or across to the road. While the course is “it is what it is” many won’t play in fear of killing someone by hitting them. It’s a nightmare and makes me crazy the lack of thought to the situation!!!

Kalatua is also blocking one lane of the two-lane road near their dumpster (in the middle of the golf course road) for deliveries of food products and for emptying trash. All traffic has to wait for a chance to go around their parked trucks. No planning for deliveries or trash removal other than blocking a lane of traffic.

Interesting. Kalatua seems to be making things up as they go.

What road did they use when they built it?

CaribLee,
Good question. I think they drove trucks carrying materials across the golf course from the Mullet Bay Beach parking lot, but I'm not sure.
