Another beautiful day on Orient. My posts are probably boring as we pretty much are sticking to the same routine since our trip is shorter than normal and we really just wanted beach time.
We got to Club around 10:30 to find that the beach had been cleaned of sargassum. It started out very windy but as the day progressed it seemed like the wind died down a bit. It did bring in some sargassum but not bad at all.
The beach was more crowded than the day before and Cedric's guys were working to bring out more chairs as a cruise ship I believe the Oasis of the seas was in port until 6pm. There were two full rows of chairs.
Wish I could take photos but you know that is a no-no.
Looking down the beach towards Mount Vernon you could see the sargassum was heavy.
Lunch was again at the Perch and I had fried chicken wings and a salad while my better half had the BLT sandwich I had the day before. Loaded with bacon which he loved!
The weather was perfect with no rain and the beach time was great.
We wanted to go to Grand Case for dinner and ventured that way only to find we could not find a place to park. The usual lot by Calmos had a lot materials blocking most of the parking spaces...not sure what it all consisted of
We traveled down the road to the other parking lot but we did not feel comfortable leaving our car their. No cars in the lot and didn't look like anyone was around. Anyone else park there with no issues?
So we headed back to Orient village and had dinner At SAO We had a delicious dinner. I had the cod fish in a spicy Thai broth with vermicelli noodles and hubby had a beef check in a spicy beef broth with rice and a fried egg on top. Both dishes were very good. We topped off dinner with a shared dessert of flamboyant banana and rum with ice cream. Did not get a picture of dessert as the guy with the torch was a bit clumsy and could not get the bananas to light up. There was plenty of rum in there but not the most graceful guy with a torch! Orient village was very quiet. Only 4-5 restaurants were open. I don't think we have ever seen so many restaurants closed in a night. We did here that Maison Mere closed and are now on vacation but the others I believed were just closed for the night. I think a lot of people walking around were a bit disappointed.
All in all a great day in paradise!

Thanks for the report! We usually park at one of the pay lots there. There are a couple of them. Sounds like you enjoyed your dinner anyway. Keep it up!

Keep the posts coming! Your days sound just like ours. Sounds like club o is really dead. We were there mid to late April and there were three rows of chairs. Front row was mostly full by 8:30. Regarding Grand Case parking,we normally use the lot that you couldn’t get in, but have also used the two pay lots without any problems. I’m sure they were nearly empty due to the season. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

obgirl01,

We are coming down in October, will be at Orient most of the time. Just wondering and have heard that they have removed more of the chalets along the beach. any truth to that . Could you post some pictures if they have.

I'm enjoying your “boring” trip reports! Hearing about people's activities on the island are never boring, even if they are just about relaxing.

We regularly use the paid lot in Grand Case that you enter by the small shed just off the main street. It’s an easy walk to the restaurants and usually there's enough activity that we feel safe. Sometimes if you arrive too early in the evening it’s very empty, probably more so in the summer low season.

We've parked at "Joe's" lot many time with no problems!! I always carry a flashlight if the lights are out. BTW, "boring" is very cool!!! Beach ,eat, drink, repeat!!! Next time on Orient, try Chez Leandra!!! (Picture: Grilled red snapper with wild rice) Louise said it was one one the best meals she had on that trip!! Don't forget to order the "Royal rum punch" it's a knockout!!! LOL!!!
