Got to Marigot market by 830 am and all ladies were already set up as a cruise ship was scheduled for the day
We were looking for some kind of "beachy" decor for our new beach house that we worked hard for and I won't mention the cost
We found a cute little ceramic colorful turtle pretty much after the perusing the entire market
Also was hoping to purchase some whole lobster but fish monger said they haven't had any on months Actually only saw whole mahi mahi in the fish stall
Lasty we crossed the store to chez Ferdinand bakery to pick up the exclusive pistachio crossiant Needless to say I believe someone from RI La Page got there before us any bought every one Won't be talking to her next week
Le Pressoir is located on the northern side of Grand Case boulevard near the soccer fields There is a well lighted free parking across the street
Le Pressoir is a beautiful restaurant and was voted by Carribean magazine as the top restaurant several years in a row and justly so
Service is michelin level and they now offer the option to try world class wines by the glass using a special coravin system that keeps air out of the bottle keeping the wine like an unopened bottle These wines go up to $70 a glass
The menu has not changed much in the last years but I continue to order the tasting menu while my wife went ala carte I also went with the wine pairing for an additional 60 euros while I believe the tasting was 160 euros
Given the high quality of ingredients. I think it is fairly priced
A variety of bread is French serviced with three different small timbles of flavored butter with the truffle being our favorite
A mahi mahi tar tar amuse was served to my wife while my first course was a petite ramekin filled with beef tar tar topped with osteria caviar A shot of chilled gray goose vodka was served beforehand to cleanse the palate
A beautiful plate of creamy buratta cheese was served with crisp vegetables For my wife's first course
My third course was pristine thin sliced wahoo with truffle creme, truffles, petite bursting uzu pearls and caviar served under a dome of smoke accompanied with a glass of sancerre (French sauvignon blanc)
My second course was the perfect egg A poached egg with asparagus, porcini mushrooms, foie gras and parmesean cheese I probably would never order an egg as an appetizer but this dish is unbelievable Domaine Ott clos mireille was paired ( mostly semillion) matched very well This is the only white wine produced from this well known rose producer
My next course was a river prawn ravioli served with a crab bisque and a seaweed foam and again topped with oscietre caviar A crisp chablis from burgundy was served ( chardonnay)
Next was a perfectly cooked lobster tail with a sea urchin cream along with a glass of veuve cliquot champagne. The lobster wad moist unlike mine from the previous night
My meat course was top of the line Iberian pork stuffed with duck confit and a thyme gravy A bourdaeux from margaux de brane was my only red wine
I substituted the usual tasting dessert to a lemon curd served with meringue and sorbet since my wife's loves lemon curd It was refreshing but my only critique of the evening was that it was served too cold A glass of sauterne was served
Rum shots completed the evening
A fantastic dinning experience with impeccable service
Please note that pictures are from last years tasting with pretty much all the same except the egg couse was served in an egg bowl on top of a wooden nest
My wife's main course was a new menu item described as a large beef rib which actually was a very large short rib served with the most rich beef reduction
I did share all courses with my wife
Shout out to caribe Lee

Thanks for the report. I have often found art at the market. I actually have two tiles I got from there, that I have intended to frame, but just haven't gotten round to it. Part of my problem is that I already have too much art, and have to take some down and put new ones up, from time to time!
I agree with TJ, the meal sounds a little exotic to me. I'm sure you thoroughly enjoyed it though. Thanks for taking us along.
