RI La Plage pool extremely empty on Saturday as they wind down to thier season closure for touch ups and maintenance.
Many check outs and few check ins although our friends from new york are returning who we haven't seen since the night before Irma.
Unfortunately they got stuck on the island until being rescued by a royal carribean cruise ship.

Hoping to try out Don pizza in simpson bay which used to be owned by owner of sale e pepe, but they were closed.

Not wanting a gourmet meal, we already had Izzi in mind as a back up.
It's been years since we have visited izzi, not really sure why it got taken off our annual list.
Maybe because sale e pepe had good Italian food although we persevered the service

Izzi's decor remains the same, maybe a bit cheesey with alot of white with red accents
Plenty of free parking just behind the restaurant near the movie theater and casino.

We were greeted by a huge smile and upbeat server who showed us to a comfortable booth.
Drink were served quickly while fresh baked rolls were put in the oven
Seems they bake the soft rolls per table when seated

Izzi offers two different end of season prix fixes at $29 and $39 respectively.

We easily could have enjoyed either prix fix but choose to order ala carte.

The tuna tar tar with an Italian twist was good sized and well prepared while my wife's calamari was equally as good.

I guess we already had pasta in mind especially when made in house.

Nice sized gnocci were served in a rich Gorgonzola sauce.
A hefty portion of cheese topped lasagna balanced out the meal since we always share
I will enjoy the leftover lasagna for lunch

Izzi asks if you have any food allergies or are celebrating any occasions.
I tried to down play our upcoming anniversary but my wife enjoys the attention more than myself.

I knew what was coming as our delicious tiramisui was served

The lights are turned off while disco lights shined through the restaurant with staff and relatively new owner clapping their hands to kool and the gangs celebration

Complimentary shots of limoncella are served with the check
Service was very friendly through out with the owner working the room
we had a nice chat since he would visit the mall back near our old home in Pennsylvania

A very enjoyable evening

Bill was $145 for bottle water, 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers a
, 2 pasta entrees and 1 dessert

A 15% sevice charge is added while verbally noted that 10 % went for the servers.

We mentioned we were welcome to leave additional but it was not necessary with a smile and no uneasy feeling

I have absolutely no problem on how all this was presented in the most professional manner.
They got it correct here

Good that you enjoyed it. We went with another couple last May and we all found it just a small step above Olive Garden.

I read your post with a lot of interest Mahokid as I respect your dining opinions. But I agree with Scuba. I always found it just a step over Olive Garden as well. Maybe based on your report, we will give it another try!

We like Izzi and have visited annually for many years, including under the new owner. We appreciate the friendly service and find the food good—we eat at our local Olive Garden and it’s several steps below Izzi! Our daughter loves one of their pasta dishes but I often get one of the entrees that isn't pasta and find the fish excellent. Yes, it's a little corny sometimes but it's fun to see the local groups and families enjoying the atmosphere.

Happy Anniversary!! We have visited IZI nearly every trip since they opened in 2009. Sometimes 2x per trip. Only missed the years we traveled in September as they close for most of the month annually. My wife loves the gnocci and I usually get one of the spicier pasta dishes. On our last visit we actually a had pre-dinner conversation w/Davide (just visiting) and the new owner. We had also sampled Davide's menu at La Gondola before he opened IZI.

We were able to enjoy another fabulous meal there the other night before their low season holiday. A good reminder to do your homework on restaurants this time of year, as many close for September and even part of October. We have to pass on Grand Case this year because of all of the holidays, some starting earlier than in the past for whatever reason. I don’t want to mention any particular establishments in case I get something wrong. Lots of places are open on the island, so you won’t go hungry!
