We are looking forward to be returning St. Martin next March and need advice on one of our potential locations. We are spending a week in Anse Marcel at trying to decide our location for the second week. We really enjoyed our stay at The Fourteen last year and walking 5 minutes to Mullet Beach, so we were planning to return to that property for our second week. We have since found a reasonably priced home in the nearby Les Terres Basses community that is a 5 minute walk to Baie Longue and Baie aux Prunes. What are the thoughts on this location and beach? We enjoyed the waves and soft white sand of Mullet Beach and are wondering if the Prunes and Longue beaches are similar? Beach amenities are not important to us as we just bring our beach chairs, umbrella, drinks, etc., with us to the beach.

Hi. Amenitywise you are on your own indeed - except for expensive La Samanna you are not going to find any.

Wondering why the third "big beach" Baie Rouge (Red Bay) is missing. It is easier to reach and comparable. Baie Longue is the busiest of the three (but still relatively quaint) as it is a popular place for landfall by catamarans. Baie Prunes the most quiet.

Baie aux Prunes and Baie Longue are not similar to Mullet. Mullet is busy and bustling, with three restaurant options, regular stops by boat excursions and jet skis, occasional loud recorded music, and plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas.

Baie aux Prunes and Baie Longue are quiet and far emptier. Generally speaking, there are no stores or restaurants within walking distance. If you like nature and fairly empty Caribbean beaches -- as Caribbean beaches were decades ago -- they are far preferable to Mullet. (Exception: the end of Baie Longue closest to La Samana does, indeed, get frequented by catamarans.)

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like Baie aux Prunes and Baie Longue will suit us nicely. Flights, accommodations and car rental are booked and the countdown begins! When we frequented Mullet on our last visit, we kept to the “quieter” end of the beach closest to The Fourteen. That end of the beach seemed relatively quiet in comparison to the music and beach chair scene at the other end.

Both beaches are beautiful, very quiet and I visit and photograph both each time that I visit St. Martin.
