First comment on SXM: everything was better than expected.
Arrived on December 29. Fantastic view from the airplane. American Airlines had no forms for SXM immigration. Had to fill them in the arrival area of airport. No problem. Lines went fast. Immigration lady was surprised to see Brazilian passaports and had a big smile. Luggage arrived quicky. Car rental guy was waiting for us outside. All set in 10 minutes. Drive to Orient Bay Hotel. Very nice lady in hotel showed us the villa (spacious, clean, incredible view to Orient Beach). Shop at Match supermarket in Marigot. Everything you need.
For the rest of the week, we enjoyed the beach, the wind (rented windusrfing equipment at Club Nathalie Simon right on the beach -- new equipment, professional personnel), the short tours (Anse Marcel, Mullet Bay, Sunset Beach Bar). Family enjoyed Kakao chairs and drinks. Visited Butterfly farm (kids enjoyed a lot), great dinner at l'Alabama in Grand Case. Other places to be visited next time (just wanted to relax and windsurf this time).
Club Orient has, by far, the best stretch of beach at Orient Bay. Talked to some people who were staying at Club O as I took my bathing suit off at Caye Verte to swim in the same state as one arrives to this world: no clothes. Did not want to dress bathing suit again. Wanted to windsurf back to the beach in the naturist way, but resisted the temptation (this time).
Went to visit one of the chalets at Club O. That's where I'll be staying next time. Wife and I liked the atmosphere of Club O and the fact that the chalets are so close to that fantastic beach.
In short: new fan of SXM here.
Best advise from this forum: take half of the clothes, double of the money you planned !
Another great tip: l'Alabama (double of the money ! but worth every franc).
See you at Club O, next time !

Edited by Administrator on 1/15/01 03:34 PM.
