One member of our party has to depart early for work reasons, and we're trying to figure out the best "drop-off" option. We chartering with Moorings so I guess the easy answer would be to return to Road Town and let them catch the ferry over to STT to catch their flight. Or maybe if the rest of the group doesn't wish to go back to RoadTown early, maybe a drop off on the other side of the island like Cane Garden Bay? How difficult would it be to sail to STT and drop them there? By "difficult" I mean mostly clearing customs, and maybe sailing there and back again from BVI. Finally is there another island in the BVI with decent ferry service to STT? TIA

They could take a taxi to road town from anywhere on the island. There are also ferry's from west end.

Whether or not going to STT makes sense really depends on your plans and timing. You have to check out of the BVI, check into the USVI on St. John and then check back into the BVI. You check in to USVI at Cruz Bay on St. John and there is a ferry there to St. Thomas, so that would be the easiest option if you wanted to spend a couple days in St. John. Drop them off when checking in and then you can head off to explore St. John for a couple days.

If you're on Virgin Gorda, Yost, or Peter Island, just have them ferry back to Roadtown or West End and transfer there to St Thomas

We have dropped folks off at Cane Garden Bay (short taxi ride from there to West End Ferry Dock), Scrub Island (free ferry to Trellis Bay if you are staying in a slip at Scrub). There is a Speedy's ferry on a few days per week from Virgin Gorda to St Thomas. Pirate's Bight on Norman Island has ferry service to Tortola.

In short, there are many options that will work without having to bring the sailboat to Road Town.

Jimp, where do you think you will be on the day he leaves? Or ideally where would you want to be?

I always dropped and picked up people to and from STT at West End. Dingy dock right next to the Ferry dock and a nice lunch and shopping spot.
