What was the name of the restaurant up the hill behind RiteWay Grocery / Road Town?

On top of sage mountain, Sky View or Mountain View?? had the best views.

Drake's Anchorage (I think that was the name) on Mosquito Island. Best Lobster Thermidor and Chocolate Mousse I ever ate.

We loved Jewel's Snack Shack on White Bay for a great hot dog and killer punch.

Does Bomba’s count? 😁🤔

Before the last runway extension there was a place on Conch Shell Point that we enjoyed on several occasions, I remember driving around in the dinghy looking for it for a while before figuring out it was bulldozed. Drakes was the best though.

I actually ate at Bomba's once (other than mushrooms). It was Thanksgiving and this real nice couple that lived up top of Zion hill (husband surfed a lot by Bomba's) cooked a turkey and brought it down. It was during the day and everyone who was there was welcome to grab a paper plate and eat.

Skyworld is what I was thinking of. Had a lovely anniversary dinner that wayyyy back.

Though mentioned already I sure enjoyed some roti at Fat Virgin’s Cafe.

There used to be a food truck/trailer at the EIS airport run by a very nice woman….I always ate a parting bvi snack before our trips home to the states….

Jewels on JVD was cool too - I never ate there but would always get a drink from her and read the signs.

Fat Virgin fries were the best.
As for food at Bomba's..that's how I got my "Manpot "nickname. Bomba used to bar b q on Weds and Sundays over a wheel in the Shack.The chicken and ribs were great and a Capt used to come by the next day and make a stew of leftovers adding hot sauce etc.All us surfer,local characters enjoyed it for the price of a couple of beers.Bomba called it "Seaman Pot"..shortened to "Manpot".One day B. looked at me and said ..you are "Manpot"..and it stuck and I love it..

Along with this ..the dishes we have lost from those restaurants..skillet mushrooms from "Coco Plums"..ginger wine chicken..started with Warren teaching Iona at "Skyworld" and then her bringing it to "Palm's Delight".I know D Coal Pot does it now..but its just not as good and $$$!.I miss the cheesebugers at "Stanley's" that Jimmy B made famous ( Yes he told me himself it was Stanleys).And the "Malcolm Double Dog" they'd make for me.The great food all around at "The Jolly Roger"....the great "Spaghetti Junction" pasta with that after dinner shot from John and, of course, everything from the original "Quito's".And same for everything frommDavide's "Brandywine" and the original"Dove"..

My old favorite! Would arrange trips to be able to hit it on 2 Saturday nights..

We had our "rehearsal dinner" at Coco Plums when we got married on Tortola in 2005! Many skillets of mushrooms were consumed!

Coco Plums is still open.

Indeed you wont get skillet mushrooms at Coco Maya..at any price! I wish some other eatery would make that simple, delicious dfsh..

Jolly Roger was nice. I ate a bunch of burgers and had philosophical meanderings with Jewel on many occasions. But believe it or not I really miss Seddy's on White Bay. He had fresh lobster frequently and his lobster pasta with that creamy sauce was the meal that I checked for on arrival day every time. Plus a great place to get away from the crowd once in a while down at Soggy.

Who cares about failed restaurants. What happened to TTOL? This site used to be relevant!

It is sad to see the decline in TTOL use. I guess social media apps are replacing it. It was my go to place for information and advice on BVI sailing. I also appreciate the lack of snarky comments you see on other boards.

The only way places like TTOL: continue to be useful is if people get involved ,pass along useful or entertaining info ( or both) and hold off off on personal attacks and negative comments.Sadly I am probably now one of the longest running TTOLers..still check it and find it ,sometimes, useful and entertaining..lets try to build it back up again.We all have something to contribute about our beloved BVI's.

Got a couple of years on ya for membership Mal but I still check it just about every day. It's been years since we were last down there so I don't have much to add that's relevant or much help to folks. Still miss the old days though. 😉

I loved Drake's Anchorage restaurant. Long gone

Circa 2008 or 2009 - we had time to kill after checking out of our villa and catching our flight to SJU and we went to the Flying Iguna for drinks. The owner left and told me to cover the bar if anyone else showed up. No one did but I did make our group another round of drinks. His parrot was obsessed with my earrings and tried very hard to remove them.
