Cheap (yet good) restaurants:
New York Chinese Restaurant across side street from Pizza Hut in Simpson Bay.
Texas Pit BBQ near Food Center in Cole Bay
Pedros (still reasonable although a little higher than in previous years) next to Club Orient
Sunset Beach Bar at end of runway (some great burgers)
Marks (cheap to moderate) at Food Center at roundabout

I can highly recommend all of these. They are not listed in any sort of order as to best etc. I wasn't sure what you meant by huts!

All of the selections in the other post were great ones - I love Mark's. I think Bongo Byron's down from Pedro's has better food (the curried chicken w/rice & peas is my favorite) and its a little more reasonable. Also try the Rib Shack in Grand Case and the Grill in the Tropicana Casino is good for takeout and very reasonable.

Dina

"Talk of the Town" lolos in Grand Case. Good food and real cheap. Two can eat for less than $25 and that includes a couple of beers.

Baywatch- right there on Orient Beach. On our last trip, their ribs were better than Pedro's plus great appetizers and sandwiches.[Linked Image][Linked Image]

Dan

[Linked Image] You didn't mention where you'll be staying....there are many good inexpensive places, but if you have to keep driving ( and with alcohol, I wouldn't recommend that! ) you'll spend more money on gas than you will on food! Gas is expensive. If you're on the French side...on Cul de Sac ther is a terrific little local pizzeria....named Le P'tit Cul de Sac Pizzeria [Linked Image] very reasonable and great....but there's the Lolo's in Grand Case....a few road side bars also....so your location would be helpful.
[Linked Image] contessa

Their food is great, yes, but not open for dinner. [Linked Image]

Some of our favorites, in no particular order, Talk of the Town and Calmos Cafe in Grand Case, GoodFellas for pizza in Simpson Bay, steak on the grill where ever we're staying! [Linked Image] Carol

Two of my favorites: PizzaTop (near the corner where you turn to Cap'n Oliver's) and Dingy Dock B&G in the marina at Cap'n Olivers. I give both [Linked Image][Linked Image]

[color:448800]dave
If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane.

Talk of the Town always gets my vote.
Also, if you are around during Carnival time, I highly recommend going
to the village at night and eat your way around the perimeter - you can taste
lots of local cooking right off the BBQs...

[color:blue]Bob!
[Linked Image]

We like the Friar's Beach Cafe. Get the "Giant Beef Kabob." I think it was bigger than my head!

Also, dinners at the three "Italian" places at the NW corner of Marigot Marina have always been decent, if not inspired.

In Marigot there's a restaurant called Le Bateau Levoir. They have great woodburning-oven pizza that will keep your bill low, low, low as well as a full menu of French-Caribbean specialties (be sure to get the stuffed crab appetizers!).

I'll be staying at the Mercure Simson Beach - I hope it's O.K. I was surprised about the number of responses to my question. There's nothing better than people who have already been there!

Thanks for all the help!

One of our favorite little places for(cheap) breakfast is the Stop and Shop just across from the airport. It's a little convience store(where you can pick up sandwiches and beverages for the beach)with seating outside in the rear. Breakfast is about 4 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Alan, there is a short ally just to the right of the police station, walk down it about 25 feet, there is a house on your right with a fence surrounding the yard, the door is located in the middle of the fence, the restroom is located in the owners house. BTW - the owner used to own the pirate ship docked in marigot harbor, he used to give dinner lagoon cruises, the boat sank in one of the recent hurricanes, and he salvages as much as he could and opened up this restaurant. It was almost a year since we've been there, so some things may have changes, he may not even be there anymore, as I haven't heard any news about it anywhere. Good luck![Linked Image]
