I'm not sure where you are staying but just got back and Happy Bay is a great choice for a quiet beach. As far as restaurants, we enjoyed Calmos Cafe in Grand Case and Le Piment in Orient Village.

Friars is a fairly quiet beach as compared to some of the other beaches. With respect to good restaurants, there are good restaurants all over the island. Our favorite restaurants are Spiga, Calmos Cafe and Piazza Pascal in Grand Case, Pineapple Pete’s, SkipJacks and the Yacht Club in Simpson Bay, Big Fish in Oyster Bay, La Gondola in Cupecoy/Mullet Bay, and L’Oizeau Rare (Rare Bird) in Marigot. There are numerous restaurants in the Simpson Bay area like the Stone, Hideaway, Greenhouse, and Lee’s that are also good. For lunch, it is fun to stop at the Sunset Bar and Grill (SSB&G) to watch the planes land and grab a burger. The Buccaneer Beach Bar (BBB) in Simpson Bay probably has the best burger at the best prices. They also have nightly specials and good ribs.
There are great bakeries in Marigot and in Simpson Bay for breakfast and lunch. We go to Zee Best for breakfast in Simpson Bay. If we are driving over to Orient beach, from Simpson Bay in the morning, we may stop at a bakery in Marigot for a snack to take along.

These are just some of our favorites but this island is famous for its food. You can try a new restaurant every trip and still have a new one to try the next trip. Here are web page of restaurants: http://www.sxm-restaurants.com/

Good response, Candj. I've copied it into my SXM notes on my iPad
