This is our 4th trip to the Bahamas, we have been to SXM.Aruba,AXA,Mexico,PR and Hawaii, we find the Bahamas very easy to get too when we have a limited time frame and need a quick get away. This report will also contain info in 2 Hotels, as my sister and brother stayed at The Wyndham and my husband, nephew and myself stayed at the Raddisson.

Parking at JFK: There were some questions regarding parking on another thread, We parked in Long Term parking off Lefferts Blvd. no problems finding a spot, even on a Friday morning. Cost is $10/per 24 hour period, and the tram in right on time every 3 mins.

Flights:[/b :Flew JetBlue in and out of JFK n/s no delays no problems, this was our first experience with JetBlue and found it to be a breeze, especially after many years dealing with AA. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will expand their flights to the caribbean....SXM would be great.

[b]Accommodations:

First the good, like I said we stayed at the Radisson AI, we were at the hotel 3 hours before check-in, they checked us in and gave us a room, however the room was not ready, guest services took our bags and let us use a change room, so by 12pm we were on the beach. The grounds are very well kept, the lobby, bars and resturants are very clean, however the rooms are in need of a makeover....which is planned more on that later.
Now the bad, my sister and brother arrived at the Wyndham, they let them check in and told them rooms were not ready year, so off to the beach we went, after several hours and a few Bahama Mamas later we all returned to our hotels to obtain our room keys, our room at the Radisson was ready and our bags were up there already, however the Wnydham informed my sister she had NO room and would be sent several miles down the block to a MOTEL, which a cab driver later referred to as the MOTEL HELL. To make a long story short after much haggling and 2 hours of walking back and forth we secured a room for them at the Radisson, which the Wyndham was not happy about paying for, the Wyndham had ALOT of senior trip kids staying there and they were banking on us just going along with being send to the Motel along with the teenagers, but I informed them that unlike "these" kids we are older and more resourcefull, they eventually complied and paid for the room.

Activities:
We spent most of our time on the beach and in the beautiful water, all of us spend the day at the Radisson Beach, as the Wyndham does not have much of a beach, and it was overrun with seniors. The beach was clean, there were always plenty of lounge chairs and the beach service was great.
We did a day trip on the Bahamian Queen Party Boat, what a blast $50 all you can drink with lunch provided. You are taken on a tour of Nassau then out to 2 private islands for snorkeling and swimming, they also have dancing and a limbo contest on the way back, what a great day!!! We also did a trip to downtown Nassau, unfortunaly there were 3 cruise ships in port...they were everywhere, but we managed alittle shopping and back to the Rad.
We took our nephew over to the Atlantis for the day, we have stayed there before and do find it alittle too big for our liking, you can get heat stroke trekking around that compound getting lunch or having to go back to your room, however, he is 7 and enjoys the aquarium. We also spend the day doing various water activities ie.. wave runners, banana boat and parasailing.
Nighttime:
We would ofter be wiped out at night, but we did manage to lose some money in the casino several times. The Radisson has a lovely lobby bar with sometime going on every night, DJ, Band and Karoke which was a nice way to end the day with a drink and some dancing. Also, we played golf twice, the course is in really good shape and the price was included in the AI, with the exception of the mandatory cart fee of $35

Dining:
As many of you know unlike SXM or Aruba the Bahamas is not know for its cuisine, however we did manage a few good meals. I will start with the worst and work my way up>

Amicis in the Radisson horrible is not a strong enough word, I couldn't eat any of my food, the other members of our party also found the food the be unedible, we ordered shrimp with pasta and steaks none of it was touched.

Hard Rock Cafe: consistent food at a good price.

Lunch at Atlantis: There are so many resturants and food kiosks I can not remember the name, however it was the outside resturant by the lagoon, good lunch chicken sandwichs and salads good but expensive.

The Black Angus: The steak house in the Wyndham great food, the best meal we ate, shrimp with angel hair surf and turf delicious but again expensive $171 for three with only 1 drink.

The rest of the trip we ate at the buffet in the Radisson which was surprising good, pasta stations and a grill along with usual buffet fair, also the outside Dolphin Grill was good, they had take out for the beach and pool and a nice sit down patio.

Update on Nassau
There is news of big changes to Cable Beach, with construction beginning in '07 of three mega resorts with dining and shopping complexes along with another Golf course, they are calling it "Vegas" style, the Radisson, Wyndham and Nassau Beach hotel properties have all been purchased and will undergo some much needed renovations now and then in '07 the big project will be started, followed by '09 building and condos and timeshares. The Bahamian people are very happy about this new project, as they feel the jobs will be great for their people. If this mega resort style is not you idea of the Caribbean, then Nassau will not be a good choice in the future.
