Thinking of visiting St Croix
Only one of USVI haven't been to
How are conditions there
Know anything about Hotel on the Cay thru RCI
See it gets so so reviews but we don't need luxury

We love St. Croix and have done land based visits there as well as sailing there and staying for a few days. Cannot comment about Hotel on the Cay. The location is very nice and imagine that they would have some nice watersports on site (kayaks, paddleboards and access to snorkeling) but do not have any firsthand knowledge of any of this. We have always rented villas for our stays. You will likely need to rent a car if you want to have the freedom to explore the island and there is much to see and do. It is larger than the other Virgins. What do you typically like to do on your vacation? That might help me steer you in a particular direction.

Hotel on the Cay is located on an island. It is accessible with a short ferry ride to the mainland. Have not stay there but have eaten their barbecue on Tuesday nights many times.
St. Croix is a great place to visit. Much more laid-back than St. Thomas and you drive on the left with little traffic.

We visited st Croix in December and we enjoyed our stay. We exchanged to Divi at quite isolated location. Hotel on the Cay sits on a little island at historic Christianstad(sp) I think it is a great location. You will need a car to explore the island. We will return fo sure, there is a lot of history and unspoiled nature compare to some other places we visited in Caribbean.
There is no place like SXM.

Please note that you do not need a car for the island that the hotel is on. She meant St. Croix as a whole. Be prepared to drive on the left side of the road. If you are arriving at night and have never done it before you might have your rental delivered in the morning to get better acquainted with the driving.

Also note that the roads are not well marked and GPS is inaccurate. Get a good roadmap and look at it before heading out.

Another nice place is Gentle Winds resort up on the North side. It is privately owned condos that are also rented out. Has a large pool, tennis courts, putting greens, nice beach, beach snack hut(great burgers) game room for rainy afternoons, beautifully kept grounds and quite secluded from the masses. Also a good central location to go either West or East. Contact Marti Gotts at Vacation St. Croix.com or Amy Land-DeWilde (sp?)at Coldwell Banker St. Croix. They both manage units on the property. Also a couple of them are listed on VRBO. Great spot if you are bringing kids.
