went there last night, for the first time. Wonderful dish of white fish with Italian veggies. Lots of food, great taste, and very attentive owner! Highly recommend it

Did this restaurant used to be at the Marina in Marigot?

LOVE it... have been there several times on this trip. That fish is Swai -- an undistinguished fish -- but they make it great!

Get the calzones too. Huge & delicious.

It's cheap and if prepared with imagination, DELICIOUS. sold in many US markets now too.

Kind of like Tilapia. It could be any different number of fish species (up to 100) with a marketing gimmick.

Would love the name of other restaurants in the area where we visited before to get a better idea where it is. Thanks for your time and patience.

Coffee,

If you're trying to get to Cugini's, coming from the airport, it's on the lagoon side (left) just after the FedEx sign and before you get to the Carousel (the gelato ice cream place on the lagoon) on the same side and actually between the two.

The food and service, along with the prices, were all very good. Another Italian restaurant we thoroughly enjoyed last trip was Basillica (Basillico?) at the Atlantis Casino complex.

Respectfully,

pat

I might add you can easily pass the restaurant as the front is a parking lot, Cugini's is set back a little bit on the water front. And only open at night. Sam is thriving at this location, so glad he finally moved to Simpson Bay. I was very happy with their former location at the Marigot Marina, but they have more offerings at this location, too.

We went there last night in a group of 7. A very good experience all around. Sam is fun, the servers were on top of our every need, and the food was very Sicilian. Can't wait to go back-to Sicily AND to Cugini!

Maybe Sat. Night is wrong night to go. Went because of friend recommendation and we were very much looking forward to it. Sadly, very disappointed. Waited over 40 min for appetizer - had to flag owner down to get it. Then another 1/2 hr for entree. No one ever came by tbl to see how we were doing, ask if we needed anything, etc. My husband's entree was wrong. Seemed like we were invisible yet those that the owner knew we're getting attention.

Maybe because its the season and the restaurants are very busy. Really 40 minutes to wait???? Enjoy the night with your friends and take in the surroundings. Life is to short to be complaining on the little stuff

I would agree with JD forethought that a Sat. Night high season would be wrong time to go. Almost anyplace

We've been coming to SXM for 13 yrs at this time and never had such a problem ...during season...on a Sat night. Don't mind so much waiting for food as we had a great btl of wine. It was the feeling of being ignored when all the other tbls around us were at least be checked on. Perhaps will give it another try next year

You said your husband's entre was wrong--totally wrong dish, or badly prepared or what? Was the food good? I agree that waiting in general isn't a big deal, it happens. Sometimes a waiter is overwhelmed with too many tables or whatever, but it is aggravating if it seems like you are the only one being ignored.

For the person that asked - My husbands entree was wrong, as in not what he ordered. My food was good. I guess we were disappointed because all we read is how attentive Sam the owner is. We certainly do not need to be pampered, babysat, etc but we felt invisible. All in the past now, plenty of other great restaurants to eat...many out of the Simpson Bay craziness. Still lovin SXM of course!

3 of us tried to go at 7:30 last night w/o reservations. Tuesday night. Restaurant was full. Sam explained a lot of his old customers are coming. Kitchen is small so orders take time. He tries to have 2 sittings, 7 & 9. Reservations recommended. We went to Panlaan. It was very good.

Went there last night for first time with great anticipation after reading great reviews. Called for 7 pm reservation and was asked to come at 6:45 and would be seated at table #2 near the water. Showed up at 6:40 just to be sure and there was total confusion going on. After a lot of arguing among staff, found our reservation, but no mention of table #2 and were seated somewhere else. Ok, I can deal with that. Sat for about 10 minutes and a waitress came by and said she would get us menus as soon as a couple were available. Really? She took our drink order and that was the last we saw of her. More people arrived and confusion seemed to be the name of the game. (I would actually call it a cluster frig). Seated them, then moved them. Meanwhile table #2 went unoccupied. Now we're into 15 minutes, no drinks, no menu. We opted to get up and leave anticipating this was not going to end well. Went to La Rosa To and had a great meal and attentive service. Did I mention this was early on a Monday night? So disappointed after all the hype about Cugini. Will not go back.

We had a similar situation. We were early (like 6:30) but they sat us at a table. They asked us about a drink. We ordered a bottle of wine. After about 10 minutes, they came over and said that the owner hadn't arrived yet and that the wine room was still locked and we couldn't have our wine til he got there. We ALSO opted to leave and go elsewhere. We went to Tutta Pasta and had fantastic Italian food with great service.
We were also not that impressed with the menu at Cugini. It seemed very limited to us.

Went and ordered mani mahi. It was the driest I ever had. It was like rubber and I had to cut it with a knife. My husband's pasta was overcooked My friends went a few nights later and the mahi mahi he had was very good. We must have been there on a night that they overlcooked everything.
