Hello, ejoying our time here on the island, so sad we are going tomorrow. Anyone hear about the flight going out to Philly being delayed extremely long? It looked like those passengers were definitely missing connection flights. Thanks for any insight.

You should be able to go to the airline's website and check the flight status.

I would not worry about what happened the day before I was leaving...as was mentioned I would check the airline website and PJIA for flight info for the day of travel

Note: recent check of the airport arrivals show no delayed or cancelled flights through 4pm

Flight was delayed and many missed connections, including us. Story goes, 40 pieces of luggage were removed to make room for cargo. Our luggage was part of 40 pieces and we
ended up in Philly overnight without luggage. We got home Sunday pm rather than Saturday night. Luggage arrived Monday pm. Going to check trip protection policy to see if any compensation is due to us. US Airways paid for hotel but that was it. Even though trip home was not great, the 2 weeks in St. Martin was wonderful.

That stinks, but at least it didn't happen on the way down! Nothing worse than having airline snafus steal a day of vacation!

Check with your credit card company as well. I have a United card and any sort of lost or delayed luggage is protected for a decent chunk of change if your bags don't make the flight. Always worth a call.

Our experience with travel insurance is that you're only compensated for actual expenses incurred; no compensation for inconvenience, such as having to spend the night in the terminal because there are no available hotel rooms, as happened to us on returning from China last year. Write a letter to the airline, and you may get a voucher for future travel to compensate for the inconvenience of the baggage delay. I find it incomprehensible that they removed passengers' baggage to make room for cargo.

The CC inquiry might get you something. I looked at my United Explorer card and it reimburses for meals/lodging (not reimbursed by the airline) up to $500/ticket

..also up to $100/ticket for "stuff" needed during your stay like clothes (time to get that new under $100 suit you always wanted ) and toiletries.

Ticket obviously has to be charged on the same CC...

As I mentioned this is for my UNITED card and is good on ANY airline ticket...check with YOUR card to see what is covered..
