My wife and I just got back from 8 days on SXM (6-6 to 6-13). Absolutely loved it. Stayed at the Grand Case Beach Club. Very nice accomodations.

Working on a first-timers trip report.

Till then some general comments....

Kinda put out by the aloofness seen at some of the French side restaurants. Seemed the staff could care less if you were there spending money. Most glaring was the staff at the Sunset inside the Grand Case Beach Club.

Friendliest person we met....Ludovic at the Friendly Bar on Orient beach.

Most unfriendly person we met. The guy running the bar right next door (towards Club O)

Best Waiter...John Paul at Il Nettuno.

Best meal...a tie between Il Nettuno (veal) and the Friendly Bar (seafood salad).

Worst experience...finding Grand Case in the dark in a rent car with no interior light (our connection in San Juan was delayed).

Speaking of that...I've flown on American Eagle 10 times in the Caribbean for a total of 8 flight hours. In those 10 flights I have experienced a total of 33 hours of flight delays! That's just bad.
