ok I don't want to sound stupid...but if the prevailing wind is E/SE in sxm for the most part. the windy/wavy/seaweed side would be orient, dawn and guana bay. That would "normally" mean all others should be relatively less wavy. How can we plan our day which beach to hit that day to avoid monster waves. If Bay Rouge is rough that day does that mean orient would be calm? or if simpson bay is calm happy bay may be rough? any advise? (please don't suggest the pool either) <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

We have been to Mullet Bay and Simpson Bay Beach the past two days. No seaweed at all. Mullet would range from no waves to big waves and then back to calm. Simpson Bay (Karakter) was more calm with the occasional wave. Pretty good undertow at both beaches. I would use caution and pay attention no matter what beach I was at as the wind as been pretty intense.

I would speculate Orient/Dawn would have a lot of sand blowing also.

You can always check out Club O's webcam on Orient Beach to check out the wind and seaweed. I checked this morning and they were moving chairs so I'm assuming they were going to rake the beach of the seaweed.

I would say in winter, the winds are from the ENE mainly. Look at Club O's flag.

The wind direction does not necessarily determine the direction and the strength of the waves. That can be caused by weather a thousand miles away and from a completely different direction.

There's always Le Galion where it's always calm, clear and fun to watch the parasails.
