This will be a short report as we are getting very lazy on our trips down. This was my 19 trip to the island, so I may bore some of you. We left, myself, husband, 8 year old and 1 year old to meet my parents at the Towers at Mullet Bay, they are there for 2 weeks. American non-stops wore perfect, clearing the airport, no problem. We rented through SXM Cars, got a minivan at Hertz, no problem. First day we ate at the Towers, they have a BBQ catered by Clayton, the owner of Lynettes, it was very good, Lobster, steak, ribs, chicken or combos. Day two we headed out to Orient Beach, got as far a Cripple Gate, and turned left into Friars Bay Beach, (we were also behind a cement truck and didn't feel like dealing with that!!!). I absolutely love Friars, very nice for kids, the restaurant, Friars Bay Beach Bar, is great. We hiked over to Happy Bay for a peak, very nice. That night (friday) we ate at Le Paraquette (sp), without kids, enjoyed the dinner and then went to Casino Royale, no differene from last year, but we didn't stay for the show. Saturday - We went to the butterfly farm which was very informative, even my parents enjoyed it, went shopping in P'burg, same stuff every year, went back to the pool, then back to town for Antiones for dinner. Favorite restaurant on the Island. They also have valet parking which makes life less stressful. Sunday we went to Mullet Bay beach for the day and to Cheris for dinner. I know alot of people love the place, but the food was, well, not great but edible. Same as the show, the singing was good but the show could go. Monday we went over to Pinel Island for most of the day, I had never gone over there, what a great place for kids. Later that day, my husband went skydiving. Jumped 12,000 feet out of an airplane!! He will definately do that again. We ate at LeGalion in Marina Royale, it was good, but I wouldnt; go back. All in all we had a great trip. The island was the cleanest I've seen in a long time, Mullet Bay Resortlooks clean and maintained, lights back on on the road, shrubs prunned, and buildings(that were torn down) and rubished removed. I know crime is a big concern, having been going down so many times, I knew where to go and where not to go. I did not see anything to concern me, but did here some first hand experiences, but again, why would you go alone on a deserted beach at night?? Why would you carry wads of money with you??? Would you park in a dark alley in NYC, then why would you do the same away from home. I think when it comes to the petty crime, common sense prevails. Oh, lastly, going home, the airport is stil underconstruction, but word is that a new terminal is being built. Hopefully bigger!!!

Edited by Administrator on 3/22/01 03:44 PM.
