Carol_Hill said: Outstanding! I have to ask though, is this in SXM?? Yes, different location and a different bird from last year although it's still a green throated caribe, which you normally see on SXM. I took a lot of him and these were the best three.

Awesome! Where did you capture the crested hummer? I got a poor shot of one in St. Bart's last year. I've already put feelers out to hubby to go back next year to see if I can get a better one; he is all for it.

Full name: Antillean Crested Hummingbird. They are found throughout the Caribbean. Haven't seen one on SXM yet, they may inhabit the higher reaches of the island.

I have a Nikon D3100 camera (gift from hubby); was using a 70-300mm telephoto lens for the bird photos.

They're a great camera and I love using the telescopic lens for birds, flowers and animals. I can get to within a good shooting distance of my subject, without scaring them off.

I'm the opposite, I use mine most of the time. Hubby has a Nikon D800 and he wants to buy a new lens for it; he prefers my 70-300 mm for taking photos, so with the new lens we can compete with one another for the best shot.
