Just when thing seemed hopeless with the loss of "Cruzin" in Carrot Bay..along come "Rita's Coolout"...its a brand new building by " Ke Villas" just west of the village. They are starting slowly with amazing breakfast sandwiches..silly priced drinks ( I mean ten years ago prices) I sampled their chicken wings..to die for..! Dont walk or drive..RUSH.. to this place. You will know Jason and Jenny the owners and lets keep them in business!!

Heading east in Carrot ..next to the graveyard ..before Coconut Point..they just put a big sign in front of the lovely deck..

Great news, we are going down next week and staying at CRC for a week starting on 3/23. Can't wait to try some place new.

We're talking the new(ish) townhouse structure of Ke Villas ?

The Coffee shop at Ke Villas isn't in full swing just yet but should be within the next week or two.

My niece and her boyfriend stayed at Ke Villas for a couple of nights about 10 days ago after he hurt his back. They thought the place was wonderful and the prices are very reasonable!

I'm not sure if they tried the little cafe or not but I checked it out and it's a nice little spot. The owner (Jerry Cooper) is a great guy and is working hard to provide great value and service.

Jason used to work at Fish n' Lime and knows the trade. I think he and Jenny will do quite well there. I'm looking forward to getting there very soon to sample the goods!

They will open full time Friday night..I suggest we show up in force to support them ( Jason even says he'll be doing Thai food....YEAH!!!!!!!!!!)

I'll see you there Mal and I'll be bringing my camera with me. Unfortunately, I hate Thai food. I really can't stand the stuff that tastes like dirty gym socks they seem to put in every Thai dish known to man. What's it called?

It's some sort of very pungent (and repugnant) green garnish that looks like a delicate clover. Blech! The second that stuff goes in my mouth I want to remove it by any means available. As a result, I avoid all Thai food. Too bad because I generally love oriental food.

How can you hate cilantro???? Parsley ..YUK..Celery..YUK..CILANTRO rules!!!!

I am not kidding you Mal, to me that stuff tastes like really disgustingly dirty sweat socks that have been worn for about a week. It is such a pungent and putrid taste that it often makes me gag and I really can't do anything to prevent it.

Now that I have been reminded what it's called, I even remember seeing a website called I hate cilantro! Some claim it tastes like soap to them but for me, it is my oldest brother's gym socks. Just a truly disgusting flavour.

I wasn't aware it was a genetic thing, but man Oh man, it is a mighty good diet inspiration. The odd thing is that the seeds (coriander) are not nearly as repugnant to me. I can eat stuff made with corriander and not want to upchuck immediately. In fact, in some things, I will even use a little corriander in very small doses on purpose.

Go figure.

Having said that, I have a really sensitive nose. I can smell (and properly identify) almost anything my neighbours are cooking and pretty much what spices they are using. Perhaps it's just too strong for my liking. I really don't have a clue why I hate it so. Maybe it is genetic. I don't recall my mother ever using it at home.

By the way, I LOVE parsley, celery, cucumber, brussel sprouts, tomato, broccoli, spinach, squash, yams, all kinds of peppers, radishes, olives, artichoke, cabbage, any kind of peas, cauliflower, every edible mushroom known to man, any onion, asparagus, any kind of beans, and all sorts of veggies and greens things many people don't like.

Don't ask me to eat eggplant or zuchinni though. They taste like cardboard to me. No flavour whatsoever. Not fond of beets either but I'll eat them to be polite and I really don't care for cooked carrots. Love them raw though.

Cilantro can be an acquired taste for some people. I remember the first time I tasted cilantro as a young boy, I hated it. But I learned to love the taste with time. Same thing happened with beer, coffee, wine, women, I could go on and on. Sometimes the first time you try something you want to spit it out. Next thing you know, it's a passion. The Mexican restaurants in the barrio here in NY have a heavy hand with cilantro. It's a good thing! I've got about 36 cilantro plants starting in my greenhouse as we speak. Can't wait for the f***ing snow to melt!

Cilantro is big on Mexican food also.
It's also a carcinogen and has the same effect on males as Salt Peter.
It's no wonder Mexicans purchase more Viagra per capita then any other country on Earth.
