My sweetheart surprised me with a sail to St. Martin from the BVI on my birthday this year and made it the best birthday ever! We had been living on the boat for about 2 months at that time, and the sail was awesome! We loved both sides and very much enjoyed croissants every morning at Le Galion, Francis is awesome there! We were so lucky to see a children's parade through the town and really enjoyed the Thursday night celebration! Later we sailed to Sint Maarten, and was also thrilled with visiting that side- Its an amazing place, that we hated to leave. Loved Shrimpy's and had own laundry done there- they did an amazing job and it was well worth it!

you should do that -- it was the best birthday in my life! I can close my eyes and almost feel like I am there again!

Le Galion is a great spot and spending time anchored there would make it even that more wonderful. Are you full time live aboards or taking a long vacation? where to from there? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />

You brought to mind one of our trips to SXM when we met a man who played guitar at several of the restaurants. He said he was staying on a sailboat with his wife and 2 kids. I thought that must be crowded.

During our 2 week stay we became friendly. One day we met him on the beach at Divi. He asked if we'd watch the kids because his wife had a job interview and he was playing a day "gig". Hubby agreed but I was nervous---what if something happened to the kids on our watch? So I took them back to our 1BR unit.

When they saw our king-sized bed they asked if they could get on it. Both spread out and promptly fell asleep. That's when I really considered how tight accommodations were for them on that small sailboat!
