Just wondering as I'm planning on a trip back to the BVI, if my VIP status means anything with the Tourism Bureau with benefits or anything. No big deal if it doesn't but just curious.

They don't seem to have any offers on at the moment. they are generally only available to Gold members anyway., if you have that number of visits recorded.

Had a long chat with the Tourist Office lady at the airport the other day. The VIP program still exists, and they are hoping to get a new space soon to welcome people. For now, they will greet you and take you to the head of the line. She recommended calling Kevis.

We are gold, twice gave our arrival information and nothing happened - so we gave up. We may give it one more shot.

We have always been met at the airport, even when we have arrived on extremely delayed planes and very late at night. A brilliant and very welcoming service after 24 hours or so travel. Good to know that they are hoping to have a space available soon. There used to be discounts available at various stores, eateries etc, but can't see anything on line at the moment.

It would be awful nice if they would have a presence at the ferry docks. We were met at the airport twice when they had the separate room, very nice.
Then the last two times, never saw them after calling.

Maybe we should ask for them to expand to 1 ferry dock?

When I first saw this post, I thought maybe there could be some sarcasm or a little joking going on but it appears that there is such a thing as VIP status. Can someone enlighten me as to how one obtains VIP status and what the benefits are of said status? I certainly have been there enough over the last 5 years.

Or did I just take the bait?

Thanks for asking cruzdoc, I thought the same thing and was about to ask the same question.

Life involves risks, take some prudent ones (NOT with the BVI ferries)!

One ferry dock, i.e. terminal, which in fact would be very nice.

While they had the VIP lounge at the airport I flew in a couple of times and was greeted each time, got a glass to drink in the lounge while someone took my filled-in forms and passport away. 10 minutes or so later I'd have my stamped passport in hand and be rolling my bag out the door. It was a great system and made it worth flying into EIS rather than STT for me, since the lounge is gone I've reverted to STT and the ferry when I travel to the BVI.

I certainly hope they reinstate the system, as it did make flying to EIS palatable despite the higher costs. While a VIP entry via ferry would be great, there's no facilities for such a segregated entry at the West End or in Road Town, so I'm not going to hold my breath for that to happen.

It would work the same at the ferry. Escorted to front of line. Easy .

Appreciate the link but am getting the feeling from the current VIP members that membership may not have its privileges. It appears it does not cost anything that I can tell other than some time and paperwork. What I really want to know at this point, is do the current VIPs feel it is worth the effort or is it just a way to get hassled with ads and phone calls?

No hassle and no lines at airport on arrival. Simple application process and no fee charged.

Since we don't fly into EIS there has been NO benefit to our Gold status.
Can you imagine the outcry from the locals if there was a special VIP lane at the ferry that whisked tourists through? The locals already push and shove their way to the front of the line. I don't think they would put up with tourists getting preferential treatment of any kind.

It's true, no more champagne in a special VIP room while your bags are ushered through customs into a cab. But the gold card is so cool that it's worth the paperwork! Plus, you never know when they will bring the VIP program back. I think this started around 2008-2009 when the recession was hurting travel so badly.
