I have recently been on the public ferry from Marigot to Anguilla. It wasn't a fun experience as the ferry smelled like exhaust and the ride was uncomfortable made worse by big waves (and being hungover didn't help!). Luckily it's a short ride and I would probably do it again if I really wanted to go back to Anguilla. Coming back to Marigot the ride was smooth and we sat outside.

We are planning to take Voyager ferry from Oyster Pond to St. Bart's during an upcoming trip. Can anyone compare/contrast the ferries. I know the water going to St. Bart's can be very rough but I am hoping the ferry itself is bigger and more comfortable.

Fly over to St. Barth and take the ferry back. Best of both worlds. The seas are typically ENE or thereabouts so the ride home is much more comfortable.

As far as expense goes, I have been getting $135 - $150 r/t on Winair lately. That's $65 in air and the rest in fees and BS.

Even the worst St. Barth ferry is better than most of the public Anguilla ferries.
And they all have outdoor seating available.

Have a ball.

Just did both. Well kind of. Voyager out of Oyster Pond was a piece of cake, fast and the new ship was not bad at all. Would definitely do it again. We did Anguilla but took it out of the airport, company on the side was called "Funtime" more expensive, I think 90 round trip, but well worth it, more like a high speed speed boat.

Thanks for the responses.

Flying is not an option as there are no Winair flights left on our date that aren't way too expensive for us (4 tickets). If I got your fare I would take the flight over. Considered going to Grand Case and flying from there as it is cheaper but we already reserved our ferry tickets by the time I thought of it.

Glad to hear the ferry from Oyster Pond was easy. I chose that ferry because of the 30 minute ride. Our kids will enjoy the ferry but we will take some sea sickness precautions just in case.
