We haven't chartered with them in a couple years.
Does anyone know if they have updated their bathroom situation? It used to be just one dilapidated room.....with only one toilet and one shower. Ugh!

Judging by the condition of their boats, I would guess you wouldn't expect more than a clean, well kept bathroom. Forget new or fancy.

Some charter companies promote quality, some price. You just can't get both high quality 4 star accommodations and the cheapest price. Where Conch falls into this equation I don't know, but as the saying goes, " Pick your Poison"

It's not what you've got, it's what you give, it's not the life you choose, it's the life you live.

Sounds like you went to the janitors work room.

"....with only one toilet and one shower. Ugh!"

I don't understand ??

The true question should be... do EITHER of them actually work ????

...or, maybe this is just not being helpful...

As I recall they have one women and one man's shower. Also one head for each. You can use the head in the Pub if their's is busy.

Just curious, honestly. Why do the restroom facilities at the charter base really matter at all? To me, you're there only for a couple hours on the entire trip just to pick up and drop off the boat. Even if sleeping aboard, you have the facilities on board the boat to use.

I guess everyone has different priorities of what's important to them, but I've never even thought about what the marina bathrooms were like when deciding who to charter with.

Wait, aren't you the one who was complaining in another thread about charter boat head discharge into the waters causing coral death? Many, if not most, sleep aboard charterers arrive as the staff is leaving or later, so no time to go over holding tank valve closing/opening, and most charter companies do not close their boats' holding tank valves. So you're ok with charterers using their boat's heads and discharging into the waters at their base? In fact, charter base restroom quality is an issue for many people who don't want to use the boat's heads at the base, for that very reason.

My bad, I'm assuming that people know how to operate the heads and that the holding tanks are large enough to hold one night's worth, and that Conch boats actually have holding tanks.

That's a lot of assumptions, I know. We've never done the sleep aboard thing, we like to stay land based for a night or two on either end.

Consider me officially "told a thing or two". That's why I asked the question.

Yikes. I had read about the pollution there, but that photo is NASTY.

I sailed an Opti regatta in Porto Alegre many years ago, totally different area and totally different time, but all they warned us about back then was alligators (or crocs, can't remember and not that I really knew the difference at 12 years old). I wonder what it's like there now.. Youth is so wasted on the young.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd probably just email them and ask if it's a concern.

Used it two years ago after a sleep aboard. Pretty basic, but still much bigger than onboard. fair water stream, barely warm water. Cistern? They had no power on our return, said that part of the island power was out.

There are two bathrooms/showers for the charterers to use at Conch. While they certainly aren't fancy, they're more than adequate IMO. They're locked overnight but they combo's are in the boat info book on your charter boat.
