Has anyone rented using FlipKey or St Martin Reservation Centre to rent a condo at the Porto Cupecoy Marina?
We are looking to rent a unit there for this upcoming Nov and have read many bad reviews for the FlipKey rental site. I would really like to rent off the owner themselves but understand that this is not possible and that you must rent using the Managing company.

Any advice or references would be appreciated.

Porto Cupecoy is a little unwieldy right now in terms of on site management. They continue to go through transitions especially regarding housekeeping.

We offer about a dozen select condos at Porto Cupecoy through an outside management company. It works much better than going on your own in terms of 24/7 support, arrival instructions, welcome provisioning, concierge support and ensuring the condos are very well maintained.

The porto cupecoy condos are exceptional. It is a great choice. They are among my favorites on the island. Spacious and very well designed. A well kept secret in my opinion. Our guests love it and have a high return rate.
Here is our collection.

Hope it helps.

Yes, go to VRBO. We're renting in late April/early May.

We rented and stayed at Porto Cupecoy in December, Savanna at Porto Cupecoy which is a 2 bedroom unit. We really liked it, only stayed there for 5 nights but got a pretty good deal. They were very flexible with us for check in and check out, we enjoyed the place and it was nice to stay at Porto Cupecoy.

The website is www.Savana-PortoCupecoy.com
Email: Amanda@Savana-PortoCupecoy.com

I would rent from them again, no hesitation. They communicated well and all went off without a hitch.

Cheers,
Todd

We have friends who rent there every February, and from what they've said it's definitely gorgeous and convenient but the management can be more than just a little hit or miss. They were supposed to have a specific unit and when they got there, for maintenance reasons, it was unavailable but this was okay in the end. They were put in a bigger unit with their own pool. They were supposed to have daily maid service which showed up only once during their stay, but it was fine with them - they did their own towels in their own laundry and didn't mind being independent and tending to their own dishes and bed making. They decided the minor inconvenience of this was by far made up for in the upgraded unit they were in. And they're already hoping to gave the same thing happen next year........

They loved the unit, the setting and the convenience of having everything on site but they also enjoyed the location for convenience of getting around to the different places they wanted to enjoy. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

I also strongly recommend VRBO, unless you want to pay 25% more to an agent..

PM me if you continue to have issues. I know an owner who directly rents his unit. He is very conscientious and I believe he furnishes a rental car with the rental of the unit.

Thanks everyone for your advice and comments. This will be our 12 trip to the island and we are so looking forward to a upscale stay this time around. We normally stay at the flamingo but thought we would rent somewhere else with my sister and her husband.
Hope we can get a rental complete at the marina and that we see some of our TTOL friends soon. Cheers <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />Rhonda

That is absolutely incorrect. That is a grave misconception. In fact, you take a a good size gamble by going through VRBO and Homeaway. I can't even tell you how many times we have encountered victims of fraud by those sites.
Let me explain what the villa specialists do versus the do it yourself homeaway and VRBO sites.
What we offer:
-Complimentary guidance and best fit of a villa or vacation rental. We have thousands of guests a year and know our inventory intimately well. You know what are the actual problems or benefits of the villa.
-All our listings are verified and are guaranteed by a company such as yours. What happens with VRBO and Homeaway? They will give you $1000 in case your accommodation is fraudulent or misrepresented. We do not have that problem.
-Professional management. Each one of the villas we offer has a professional manager. 24/7. You have a problem, it gets fixed immediately. Some of these listings have owners overseas and have no means to correct issues immediately.
- Concierge services. Each one of our guest has a personal concierge that will help plan your vacation from the best restaurants to the best activities. We include an airport pickup, welcome provisioning, villa orientation, on island concierge and 24/7 support.
- Price. You have all this and we have the same exact price as VRBO and Homeaway for all the listings we offer.

To summarize, we reduce your risk for fraud to ZERO. Minimize your research time, stress and headache. You are fully guided and supported from beginning to your return home. You have elite guidance to plan the perfect vacation to make sure you enjoy the best of St Martin.
And all for the same PRICE.

I think companies such as ourselves create an exceptional value for guests and mitigate risks.

Rob

Thanks Rob for your comments and advice. I will look at your website and hope that we can connect for the unit needs we are looking for at Porto Cupecoy.
BBB website did show that Flipkey had several complaints against them mostly around poor Management services with the rentals. (75 plus complaints)
Therefore I will not be using there service!
Do you have any reviews from past guests you can share with me? Maybe a fellow TTOL'er who has used your services.
There are so many fraudsters out there that I will for sure do my homework prior to making my selection.
I work in Finance and deal with fraud issues quite often.
Anymore advice from others is appreciated.
